Fun Weekend

Bitterly cold last weekend!

But that didn't mean that we didn't have fun.

Friday night we arranged a last-minute dinner out with our friends, the Martins, and their girls at our regular Mexican spot. Their Leah and Sydney don't love mexican the way that Libby does, so they enjoyed their McDonald's, (their parents bring them to mexican all the time- we didn't just force them to "our place" - we often run into them there.) We had a fun time with three toddler girls! And Michael and I cranked out two episodes of "Downton Abbey," (we are now mid-way through Season 2) which meant I couldn't get to sleep Friday night because my mind was racing!

Libby and I mostly hung out around the house on Saturday morning with a quick errand or two thrown in for good measure. We made cinnamon muffins, played downstairs and I introduced her to "The Parent Trap" as it was on a movie channel on TV, which makes it even more special than just popping in the DVD copy I own. She has asked to watch "the fight scene" over and over and had lots of questions about whether "those girls got in trouble." Yeah, the premise is far over her head at this point, but as an introduction, I thought it was just fine. Gotta plant those seeds early!

Of course, for days her mind had mostly been on the fact that Sarah was coming to babysit on Saturday night AND spend the night AND go to church with us on Sunday. She had a list for them to do about a mile long and it sounds like they accomplished all of it in the short time between when we left for the Atlanta Symphony, featuring Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers. You can read the review here, but suffice it to say that it was fantastic! As Steve Martin said, "it combined two of [his] favorite things: comedy and charging people to listen to music." We also got to grab a bite to eat at Figo beforehand - always a great choice. Oh- and one other thing - it's kind of amazing that we made it because Michael thought it began thirty minutes later than it did and I had the wrong location in my mind! All bumps were smoothed out before it began though, so no worries!

On Sunday we had church with Sarah- a real treat - and then Mimi came over before we all went to Ty's zoo birthday party, where Libby was also able to finally meet Finn Doyle (Nadine's baby boy) who she's been praying for in her nightly prayers since before his birth. It was nice to finally introduce her!

There was even craft time! Libby's fave!

We had a great time and stayed a little while after the party itself because Libby had been begging to play in Ty's room.

A fun weekend has made for a tired girl, though! She had a three hour nap yesterday and was begging Gigi to let her nap BEFORE lunch. Today after school, she wanted to play with me, but her playing was me, pretending to put her down for a nap in different spots downstairs with various blankets and stuffed animals. Ha. And that was after eating half of a big Easter egg sugar cookie Aunt Toni sent home with me for her from Panera. Yep- Libby sees Aunt Toni frequently - even last Friday, but today I finally got to see her! We met for a quick lunch since she was off work and I was up her way for a dental appointment (no cavities)! Now that was a "'pecial treat" for me!
