Happy St. Patty's Day

Well, we've been celebrating St. Patrick's Day for several days now at least.

On Saturday the Pearson's came over to celebrate. After two months of no Pearsons, we've seen them the last three weekends in a row! We had a great meal of bangers & mash (sausage and fries) and steamed (bright green) broccoli, with beer bread, asparagus, crackers and this delish kale pesto & Greek yogurt dip for appetizers. For dessert, we enjoyed candy.

The kids had a fun time playing and we did, too. The weather was yuck in the morning, but cleared up mostly by late afternoon.

Ty and Libby also made some fun "photo booth" masks, so we had to get photos of them in the masks, of course.

She also had to make a lerechaun trap for school. This is apparently a "thing" now because I've seen a number of parents posting photos of their kids' traps for school. Libby's was supposed to be made by the student only and able to fit in her school bag. We definitely followed the rules. After saving household stuff, Libby found a small box, colored it green and put tape most of the way down one end. She planned to put the bait in it and the idea was that the leprechaun would be trapped by the tape. Her trap sadly didn't catch one, even though he left a mess in the classroom. None of the traps caught one - but a tiny gold shoe was left behind near the windowsill apparently while he was escaping!

A leprechaun also pulled her covers down while she was out and threw all of the stuffed animals on her bed! I don't have time for that mess at home. At least he didn't leave gold glitter everywhere and turn all the chairs over. Leprechaun must have known that we have our own little mess-makers.

Mom also had her rotator cuff surgery today on her left arm. All went well but we will miss her! Before her surgery, she kept the kids on Friday and Monday. And Aunt Toni came yesterday, too! Good times for all... except what about me?! Mom did join us for Mexican last Friday, which was great. And on Monday, she and Libby made Lucky Charms Treats (like Rice Krispy treats) and all the marshmallows in the cereal are green and leprechaun-ish.

Matthew has just about all of his teeth these days and he's just a charmer. He's about to drop his second nap and sometimes does. Growing up so fast. He also got a shiner on his eye Sunday after a fall into a box. Just tipped and sorta fell into it. Poor thing.

And one more funny that's too good not to share from dinner tonight:

Libby: "Why don't we have a green TABLE for St. Patrick's Day?"
Me: "How many people do you know that have a green table?"
L: "A hundred and fifty sixty-five."
Me: "You know a hundred and fifty sixty-five people?"
L: "Yes, that's how many people we pray for every night."
Michael and I about fell over laughing. She's just about right!
