Easter 2016

As noted in my last post it's now late April, and I'm trying to think back to Easter. How very quickly we forget!

I got a video of Easter morning.

And Egg hunting at home.

But of course before we could get to Easter morning, we had to dye eggs. We only did a dozen, but as I'm just about the only one who eats them, it makes sense. Now, we did save a few to make egg salad for Masters Sunday, and Michael even ate a sandwich, so that's good to know for the future!

We did have many colors, and there was a great deal of excitement as always over the wax crayon to create designs on the eggs. But no cracks, no spills and overall, no arguing or disagreements over things.

"The waiting is the hardest part..."

So we hunted plastic eggs at home on Easter, some filled with treats and others filled with change! Matthew also got to hunt eggs at school, and he was so proud of his haul!

After the fun of egg-hunting, we enjoyed some light breakfast and got ourselves ready for church. Some of us were more enthusiastic than others...

But we finally got that bow tie on, and he was pretty proud of his handsome look.

At church, we were met by Mimi and Diddy, Gigi and Papa, and Kaitlyn! (Kaitlyn officially moved back to Rome and next her parents, Andrea and Jack, will soon be joining the family in Northwest Georgia!

Easter service was particularly special at our church this year, and touching to Michael and me, as we celebrated Jesus's resurrection. It was both our pastors' last Easter at our church. Pastor Ron Grunke has been at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 22 years, and Pastor Beth Birkholz for eight. She baptized Matthew, and really has made me feel like part of the church family. I was really hoping she would be around as our minister as Libby -- and Matthew -- grow up. But I know God has a plan. I will say, Michael and I got got teary when she sang the liturgy before communion. It's so difficult to do, and do beautiful and meaningful when pastors do it. We were moved.

Matthew was moved during the passing of the peace, and for quite some time following, to shake everyone's hand and wish them, "Happy Easter." Just precious.

We had to rush to get some photos after the service and before outfits were swapped. Unfortunately, it wound up that we got none WITH Michael's Aunt Chrissy, so came by for a little while to visit while she and her friends were in town. I really do regret that.

We had fun bonding with Aunt Chrissy and with each other. The weather was less than perfect - another reason we wanted to get the photos in quickly and early - so we didn't get to have appetizers and dinner outside, but everything was delicious and I think pretty relaxing and enjoyable. Matthew was VERY tired by the time he finally went for his nap, but we got it in, and we had a Happy Easter.
