Twas the Night Before Jesus' Was Born

Was the name of our Christmas pageant at church this year. We were all very excited because Matthew recently began attending Sunday School since he turned three, and they asked if he would participate in the Christmas pageant this year as one of the animals.

The bad news is that the kids were out of town last weekend, so they missed the rehearsal during Sunday School. Then last night missed the chance for a last rehearsal due to their gymnastics performances. Thankfully, one of the directors and some sweet kids ran through it a bit with them before the performance tonight -- and we found out that Matthew would be a sheep.

Sadly, Libby, combined with her nervousness due to lack of rehearsal time, plus her feeling slightly under the weather, made for a tough combo for our "Star of Bethlehem."

The story and pageant were very sweet.

EVERYONE know who Matthew was by the end of the story. In the clip below, he was VERY interested in the baby Jesus.

He also enjoyed "Baa-ing," walking, spinning (just a tiny bit), kneeling, lying down and the like. Many folks stopped us afterward to comment on how much he added to the show. They really did find him cute -- phew.

Libby really was not feeling well. You'll see her in the video briefly at around the 38-40 second mark standing tall in the background on her ladder/stool. She didn't have the star up yet, because it wasn't the wise men portion yet.

The angel helping guide her and provide her with support held the star basically the whole time.

Yes, we have an urgent care appointment scheduled for the morning. Poor baby.

We also had Arnold Family Christmas this morning! Breakfast was delicious as always, even if the kiddos each only liked one portion or the other. But they had a great time playing hide-and-seek, showing off the Christmas decorations, coloring, playing in the pop-up bus and being together.

Only problem (other than Commish trying to eat the kids' food!) was that Matthew got rather sad that it wasn't THE day to open all the gifts. He loved his gift, but one... was sort of a disappointment after he had it in his head that it would be all of them.

Eight days until Christmas!
