So, the main news is that we can move Miss B to drinking whole milk and obviously it's time to start weaning off the bottle. I think I'll switch to the milk full-time before giving up the bottles. (While I'm not really worried about the transition, any thoughts or advice from mothers on this topic is welcome.)
Oh, and we can turn her car seat around. But I'm not in any hurry about that. We have a mirror system rigged up so we can still smile, wave and interact with each other and I can see what's going on back there. So I think we're good until she gets a bit bigger. Her problem in the car stems from the fact that she cannot climb around, not that she's facing backwards, so unfortunately, turning her around won't really help a lot, I don't think. She's fine in the car overall anyway unless it's a really long trip.
She had to have a toe prick to get her iron levels tested (we're now down to every-other-day iron vitamins- yay!) She didn't even notice the prick itself, but it took so long to get enough blood in the vial that it finally became painful to her (her feet were cold, so the blood wasn't flowing as well- she takes after mommy in the foot department, apparently.) And speaking of feet - they haven't grown since she was around four or five months and she's still in 0-6 month shoes! Anyway, then she cried about her toe. She'd finally stop and then see the band-aid and start up again! (We took that off before we left the office, even though it would have been covered by a sock and shoe.)
Great check-up from the doctor. She weighs 20 lbs. 7 oz. (25-50%) and is 30 inches tall (75%) and her head circumference is still in the 25-50% range. She's just one of those string beans that she loves so much!
She got three vaccines today and she was very unhappy about them. She even had her exam from the doctor while sitting in my lap instead of on the table, as she was wary of this group after the toe prick.
We stopped by the grocery store on the way home to pick up some whole milk... and got to the check-out. Oh my gosh- I forgot my wallet in her diaper bag in the car. Embarrassing, but Libby and I ran back to get it and all was well.
She's been great all afternoon, so hopefully there won't be any bad reactions from the shots.
Oh she's growing up so fast!
She continues to point at everything in sight to ask what it is and she talks and squeals all day. She also loves her daddy and her dog so much and is walking a bunch. She's also quite good at independent play, but would prefer that you be watching her while she plays even if you're not interacting directly with her. Difficult to get much done this way, but I'm letting her whine about it some now and she gets over it and goes on. She also still prefers to see what you're doing in the kitchen, so she is often in her high chair if I have something to make, cook, put away in the kitchen.
I think that's it for today!

Way to go Libby! So proud of you getting your shots and getting your toe pricked without too much problem. It does get easier each time but you still have the right to be upset! See you in the morning! Love, GiGi
ReplyDelete...from tale, legend and family lore (a recounted by Mema & Boobus)...apparently, Libby's Marmena had that same need..the one where everyone NEEDS to watch us while we play...the good/bad news is that "this too shall pass".....so continue to enjoy!

Love this song! You pick the best music for your blog! On the milk thing - Christa refused whole milk out of anything but a bottle until age 2. She took water out of straw cups and sippy cups just fine, but for some reason, would only take the milk from the bottle. After talking with her pediatrician, we decided it was more important for her to get the milk than get off the bottle - so I kept her on the bottle (for milk only) until she started refusing milk all together. Abby Kate takes milk fine from the sippy cup, and we've even gone back and forth with the bottle for comfort when she's been sick with no problems. So, bottom line - do your best, but don't stress. Libby will do just fine either way!
