then you already know that it's going to be a great year!
We got to spend New Years with our dear friends Tyler, Lindsi, Ty and Lady (their dog, and frankly, still Libby's favorite family member) Pearson. We tried to have a slumber party with them last year too, but the overnight part didn't work out.. Somehow this year, it did!
Last year:
This year:
Ty was pretty excited about Libby's broom and dust buster. Libby was pretty excited about Ty's bouncy house!
They wore each other out on this thing, but still found some time for the dust buster and sliding!
We all had a great dinner- Ina Garten's Roasted Lemon Chicken with Croutons, haricots verts with shallots, roasted potatoes, lemon meringue pie and Lindsi brought a delicious variety of individual pound cakes. AND she made breakfast!
The morning came too early for us adults (three of us didn't make it to bed until around 3:30 a.m.?) but we still found time to go outside again. And Tyler found the energy to do this:
Ty got in on the fun!
And Libby was impressed!
And one more for the road... and because it's my blog.
The rest of New Years Day was spent redecorating the house for January (read: taking down Christmas decorations) and Libby was a big help. She watched her new Pooh movie quite quietly (I think she was also a bit tired from her fun night/morning) (and she's teething still) and helped me take some of the decorations off the tree. She waved bye bye to the Christmas tree before her nap, and we'd been talking about how it was going to have to go away, along with the nutcrackers and other Christmas decor, for several days, so she was prepared. It was all gone when she got up from her nap and as she came down stairs, she pointed to where the tree was and said, "uh oh," but that was the only sad reaction. Some of her new Christmas-themed toys she got are still out, but they will likely go away on Friday, so we can all be super excited about any other new toys she may receive for her birthday at her party on Saturday! Oh- and appropriately, her new favorite word is, "Hunny!" (That's "honey" in Pooh-speak.)
I'm majorly onto her birthday stuff now and am very excited about her party. I'm off work this week and we are going to have fun, fun, fun all week with (hopefully) no work distractions to get in our way!
I just hope there's no "Snowpocalypse" starting on her birthday again this year... if we're holding true to our history with her, there will at least be some snow.
