It was Libby's first time as well as my own. Michael believes he went once in school. The weather was a touch warmer than one might imagine for a perfect apple picking day, but that didn't get in our way! The rain clouds were also gathering by the time we left and it began to drizzle, but the timing worked out great.
Mercier Orchards was great fun and a beautiful spot!
Libby loved riding the tractor wagon around the orchard (I think even more than the picking).
Libby wanted to pick ALL the apples, so we had to rein her in a bit.
And she really loved dropping her pickings into our collection bags.
She must be watching Disney movies/listening to fairy tales - wouldn't touch that offered apple! Smart girl! Actually, she has been enjoying some fresh apples here with me at home as long as hers are cut up.
Mommy pic!
Being artsy here- but I didn't even see the snail until I was going back through the photos!
Finishing up...
Michael and I also enjoyed tasting the hard cider (a new addition at the orchard)! We preferred "Local #3" and bought a pint.
We all enjoyed the bakery and wish we'd gotten more! But alas, when you buy so many apples you've personally picked, then you really just need to get them home so that you can start cooking and baking with them. So that's what I did! I baked apple bread and muffins right away.
Oh- and we stopped at The Pink Pig in Ellijay for lunch and Libby got her own adorable plate!
Saturday night, my cousin Sarah came over and babysat Libby so that Michael and I could go to a neighborhood pool party. Libby cried as we left, but was over it lickety-split! It sounds like they had a great time, so I'll definitely be seeing about that opportunity again. We sure did miss Libby, but we were thrilled that she had a fun time.
On Sunday, Libby and I got to have dinner at the Arnold's! Nick smoked a boston butt on their Green Egg and it was SO good! They even sent me home with leftovers, so I turned mine into a BBQ green salad tonight (like at Shane's) with a fresh tomato Nick sent home with me from their garden, too! Oh- and Mandy spoiled me with my favorite Banana Fluff (which is like Banana Pudding, but better!)
Libby and Ryan had fun playing mainly around each other, as usual. And getting a photo of them together was nearly impossible.
But they were super cute eating at their own table.
Today, Libby got to do more artwork at school, using red paint and q-tips to decorate an apple! She also came home with an extra "just for fun" page of art. Only three of the kids in the class seemed to have that extra page and if I were a betting person, I would put money on the fact that she started that trend. I was also informed that her dress was too nice for school today. But she looked so darn cute in it at church on Sunday, how was I supposed to pass it up?!
