I forget so much when I don't write notes or just start the blog during the week. It was a busy week, though! Lots going on at work and trying to also enjoy one of the last weeks of "summer/no school" with Libby.
My work schedule was rearranged due to some events during the week, but it worked out that I didn't have to go to my office on Thursday or Friday. This worked incredibly well considering my birthday was on Friday!
On Tuesday evening I had a work dinner, on Wednesday was a great book club get-together and on Thursday, Michael went to the Falcons pre-season game with Tyler. So, Michael and I mostly saw each other in passing until this weekend!
While I worked on Wednesday, Oma and Mim took Libby and Ty to her gymnastics studio to play together. They had a wild time!
On Thursday, Libby and I made it extra special with a fancy lunch out to Seed with Aunt Mandy for her birthday and mine! The waiter gave me a funny look when I ordered the side of caramelized brussels sprouts and cauliflower for Libby's meal (she also ate some peanut butter crackers) - but she loved them of course, and ate them for several meals following lunch with great enjoyment. She was on good behavior for sure and loved the fancy sinks in the bathroom, but I think Mandy and I missed a few topics of conversation we could have caught up on. Oh well- there's always time for that! Mandy and family gave me several sweet decorations for Maeby's room that match perfectly and are just beautiful.
On Friday, Libby and I went to Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast which was a treat for us both. I thought she might chose "Biscuits 'n More," but she went for the sweet option instead and found no complaints from me! She again chose a blueberry, a powdered sugar and a chocolate munchkin. Later on, she told her Daddy the flavors she chose "flour" instead of saying powdered sugar. Quite amusing. You'll notice the little hair soft bands on her wrist. She wore those around for half of the week as her "bracelets." She also had me paint her finger and toenails again on Thursday. Sometimes she can be a girlie-girl!
We picked up some fabric for the cushions to go on the bench in our foyer (a birthday gift from our parents) and then went to the pool. Libby wasn't incredibly into it that day so we didn't stay very long, despite some friends being there! It did require me doing some laundry and in my haste, I tossed my cover-up into the wash with my cell phone still in the pocket. So, no, the cell didn't survive its' wild ride.
Michael took us to dinner at Libby's favorite Friday night spot and it was fun... until I got home. I was unfortunately, miserable. Went to bed early and the whole thing. First really bad time being pregnant this time since the first trimester. Libby was incredibly sweet and so tender and loving trying to take care of me and help me feel better. She even gave me an extra blankie to help comfort me. She's going to be an awesome big sister. Fortunately, Saturday was better.
Michael and I had an appointment in Rome earlyish, so Libby played at Mimi and Diddy's until we were finished and we met them all in Cave Spring for some fun duck, goose and fish feeding.
This fun was followed by lunch and naps for both Libby AND me!
We were up in time to get "ungroggy" and get dressed for our nice dinner at the country club. Boy was it delicious and since it was fine dining, it took some time. Libby was such a good, patient girl and we all took turns keeping her entertained, too.
Then it was back to Mimi and Diddy's house for gifts, cake and ice cream! Mimi made my favorite funfetti cake with rainbow chip icing by request. Libby helped by opening my cards and showing them to the camera and everyone else to read them and opened my gifts for me, of course.
And can you believe I got another portrait of Libby?! This one will go in our bedroom. The photo it was painted from was taken last year at the beach with her little cover-up on and it's always been the sweetest picture. Mom titled the portrait, "Innocence."
And there's more: today we got my new curtains up in the guest room (a birthday gift!) and did even more fore Maeby's room: Put the bumpers on the crib, raised the mattress height, moved the crib a bit, moved the glider in and got the newborn clothes down from the attic, along with another box of rattles and soft newborn books and toys. So things are really coming along!
Finally, we had a picnic dinner with the Doyles and Pearsons at the Doyle's pool because we needed to get together anyway- and for my birthday. It was fun to play with Finn a bit (who is eight months old now!) Libby seemed to enjoy him fairly well, though, as usual, she mostly preferred to do her own thing. She was kinda cute with him though and he was adorable watching Libby and Ty - the big kids! We had a great time with the kiddos and Libby jumped from the diving board for the first time this summer and was totally unassisted on the board- and of course, with no flotation device.
They were even synchronized jumping by the end.
Lately, Libby has been telling me - and us - that "Momma, I went you to stay here all the time!" It warms my heart every time. I wonder if she's nervous about school starting or if she's nervous about the baby or what. But right now, I have no desire to really question it or analyze, but to appreciate. I can't hear it enough.
I also have to say I have some amazing family and I have chosen my friends wisely, because my mantel is a couple of cards deep covered in birthday cards. So sweet!
Happy Birthday to me.
