Santa, Sick, An Apple a Day?

Well, my sweet babies have been a bit sick.

Matthew had some sadness where we thought he might have an ear infection (he didn't), but we did find out that he weighs 25.4 lbs. (and he stood on the scale for the first time). And he was also having some tummy issues, so he followed the BRAT diet (which he loved for the first couple of days, but eventually got over it and wanted real, substantial food again). Today's the first day he's been on full milk again and he's been fine. He's very happy about that and we've (hopefully) dropped the post-second nap bottle, too. He also been eating entire bananas at one sitting. But he did that from time-to-time anyway. The big news was that today... he decided that since he's been sick, he's not interested in that anymore apparently. He found an apple in my work bag that I didn't eat yesterday and I turned around and he'd taken four bites of it after lunch!

And a video:

Now, I'd planned to get a photo of the apple when he'd finished, but he finished it completely - core and all! I took it away from him because he was tired and it was past nap time when he was about half-way done. After nap, he spotted that apple on the counter and started back at it. He finished it during dinner and we found the seeds collected in the pocket of his bib!

Earlier in the day, I took this cute one, too:

Libby got sick right as we left church on Sunday. We weren't having a successful worship, so after the offering and before Communion, we though God would understand, and our fellow parishioners would be grateful if we left a bit early. Thank goodness we did, because when we arrived at our car in the parking lot, Libby yaked. Three times!

So yesterday, she stayed home from school while she recovered further and stayed on the BRAT diet for an extra day to be sure. She was totally fine tummy-wise by today, just a little tired, so she returned to school. Apparently ALL the girls in her class (four of them) were out sick yesterday. Hmm.

Sunday afternoon, I still found time to attend the annual Mountain Ladies' Tea, which was great and at Nancy's house this year! I lived with Nancy for three months when I first moved to Atlanta, so it was nice to visit my old "home." She's in Decatur, so we just don't get down there very often.

On Saturday morning, we got up, dressed and ready and headed out to visit the big guy at the North Pole. Our wait wasn't too terrible (we got there as close to opening as possible...) and Matthew entertained us and others when he got tired of being strapped down in his stroller. As it turns out, seeing the lighted, white Christmas tree cones were probably his favorite part!

Oh, and of course playing the the line ropes.

When we finally got to see Santa, he did not disappoint, either. I knew a smiling photo wasn't likely, as Matthew rarely wants to be held by anyone not me at the moment, unless it's a grandmother or Daddy. And strangers are a big no.

So, while Libby harkened back to the days of yore by requesting a yo-yo, a Slinky and new playing cards from Santa, Matthew just wanted to get the heck off of his lap for Christmas!

On Saturday evening, we got to attend the Pearson's SEC/Holiday party (you know, Saturday was the big day between illnesses.) Libby and Ty had a super time, as did we all. We really do look forward to it each year - and hey- when your team isn't playing, it's much less stressful, too.

Last week, a highlight for Libby was staying after Playball on Thursday to play with Kira at the playground. It was a gorgeous day, so we had to take advantage!

Matthew liked the sandbox and playing on the playground equipment with the big girls, too!

And a couple of weeks ago, I got an early Christmas gift myself - a new cork board and a new chalkboard for the kitchen! LOVE them! They look so great - much better than in the photos, actually.

We look forward to Libby's big school Christmas & Holiday program on Thursday night!
