Springtime

It is finally, really, Spring!

We have so been enjoying our lack of coats and sandal-wearing that I can hardly stand it. Spring makes me SO much happier about daily life - even with the sneezing and itchy eyes that can accompany all the blooms.

Weekend before last was Easter and the start of Spring Break for Libby! During Holy Week, she attended both Maundy Thursday service at church (w/Michael) and Good Friday (w/me). She had many good questions and I'm excited that she's old enough to do those extra special services now, too. Good Friday is one of my favorites and it was really beautiful and moving.

On Saturday, we dyed eggs, of course. MK came over to help out a bit, too.

It ended with particular fun for Matthew.

This year, I had the opportunity to work a bit on Easter morning! It was rather unexpected, but overall wasn't too terrible, plus lots of grandparents around to help entertain the babes!

More importantly, we had a lovely morning and the bunny was good to the kiddos.

We had to get to church super early to save seats, and we were ready several minutes before we had to leave (some sort of miracle in itself), so we snapped as many photos as the kids would stand before leaving (not many!)

Matthew mostly wanted to be held, so no photos of just him and Libby, sadly.

We also snapped some before church, just swapping out who was holding seats. We knew there was a good possibility Matthew wouldn't make it through the whole thing... and while was a very sweet and funny boy through most of the service, by close to the end, he felt he needed milk. And of six "responsible" adults, none of us had thought to bring anything other than what I'd packed: water and plenty of munchie snacks. So he and Michael headed out at Communion to let Matthew have his milk and a nap!

Throughout the afternoon, the kids opened their baskets from the bunny who left them lots of goodies at their grandparents' houses, in addition to ours, played outside (and of course, for Matthew, had a good nap, too).

We had a lovely brunch this year, and I was a big fan of that option. We were a bit rushed, because some of us went to Cedartown (Gigi & Papa took the kids, including Commish) home with them for two nights, some to Rome (Diddy, to see Mema Mabel), and some to Augusta (Michael, Mimi and I) to see the Fullers and go to the Masters on Monday!

Oh the course was beautiful! We enjoyed our many sandwiches, beverages, an overcast and slightly cool day that allowed each of us to get more sun than we realized, and most importantly, our time together. Carol Fuller joined us on Monday for the tournament and kept us entertained with news, stories and more, as always. And she and Mr. Fuller were also the great hosts they always are. Truly, more like family. Carol also surprised Mom with a special gift! I'll get a photo when she has it "in hand" and post at a later time.

We caught a favorite of ours, Miguel Angel Jimenez, on a number of holes. Here's a clip of his warm-up routine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGiGEDnU6Tg. And he is definitely "the most interesting man in the [golf] world." And we saw Olazabal, too.

Libby and Matthew had lots of fun in Cedartown, even with some rain. They got to visit the golf course and do Libby's favorite thing: make and eat fried green tomatoes!

On Wednesday, Libby, Matthew and I headed back up to Rome to visit, see great-grandparents and spend the night. We had a really nice visit with Mema Mabel and the kids delighted her many friends and neighbors with their cuteness. Matthew let us know that he needed a nap though before we could make it to lunch, so afterward, we all had a good appetite by the time we got to Schroeder's for meals and a giant basket of fried okra!

Mema and Boobus also came over in the afternoon to visit and go to dinner with us, where we managed to find more room in our tummies for Johnny's NY Pizza. It was so tasty and Matthew occupied all of us during our wait for the food by requesting trips to walk around the restaurant, get his head stuck in a railing (not too bad) and generally avoid sitting in his high chair. He was good once his pizza arrived, though!

On Thursday morning, we had some fun at the park!

And at Harvest Moon for lunch, with a stop by Honeymoon Bakery for a treat afterward!

After another long Matthew nap, it was back home to see Daddy!

And here's a little clip from... recently.
