I have to say that this Thanksgiving break was the best ever. And my babies are at the best ages ever, too!
It was so nice not to have the early Libby alarm and bus run for a whole week! No school lunch packing. No bus pick-up. No snack-packing or dropping my sweet guy at school away from me, either.
I still had to work a little bit, but not too much, and I sure enjoyed my extra time at home with my babies. We even got to have friends Ty and Riley over on Wednesday morning! And Aunt Lindsi brought breakfast from Chick-fil-A, too.
The boys finally got to play on our new swing and it was a hit. My babes loved being outside so much over the last week, too - as did I.
And Libby and I enjoyed working on her special dessert contribution to Thanksgiving this year, too.
On Wednesday afternoon, Michael got home early and we even beat our "leave the house deadline" by a few minutes! So we had a little extra time with Gigi and Papa, which was a treat for the kids (even if Papa needed extra time to recover over the weekend from his entertainment services.) Gigi made a delicious lasagna for dinner, too. Breakfast so delicious too, and in general, I ate far too much over the break.
Thursday morning featured the parade, more playtime and then heading to Mimi and Diddy's house for Thanksgiving appetizers, drinks, dinner, rest, croquet and more fun!
Our feast was as extravagant as ever - even with maybe one or two fewer dinner dishes. A hit with adults and kids alike. It was attended by the five of us, Mimi & Diddy, Gigi & Papa, the Krafts and Juan, Mema & Boobus and Mema Mabel, too.
Libby got most of the gang outside at one point or another for that special American pastime, croquet (using my old set). She got the hang of it pretty quickly.
We tried to get some special Thanksgiving photos of the kiddos, too. Of course all of their pictures are cute, but cooperation wasn't tops on their list of fun things. We got some cute ones anyway of course.
And then attempted a few of the family...
On Friday, it was time to decorate Mimi & Diddy's Christmas tree. Matthew was a HUGE fan! He kept telling us, "it's beautiful!" And that it was "so pretty." Sweetest little guy ever! There was quickly no doubt that this would be my favorite Christmas season so far.
We even found time for a dance party!
To Christmas music, of course. And Matthew got in on the fun, too. Lots of flips were involved.
Libby went to the labyrinth later on with Diddy, to feed ducks and geese and to visit Mema Mabel. The kids also got to have Steak and Shake for dinner, featuring kid-sized peppermint shakes. Michael and I had a date afternoon to see the new Bond, "Spectre," which was fun, and even got to visit Schroeder's!
On Saturday we had to get busy with our own decorations. Just in case you weren't aware... the Dawgs did put the world back on its axis again with a win over Tech. Much better than last year.
And the kids were still excited to decorate here.
We got this great remote-controlled light switch for the tree last year from the Fullers and it has proven a source of great joy (and light-flickering) for the kids. It's this little pump thing in front of Matthew in the photo below.
And I can't even imagine how fun Christmas morning is going to be this year. Libby was describing to Matthew the other day what we do, which was funny in itself - I mean, she did not leave a detail out of how our Christmas morning goes. She is so patient with him and so great at explaining things to him. He is just loving the decorations and Christmas toys. Only a few have had to be glued back together so far...
He loves this nesting nutcracker set (pictured below) and the Charlie Brown ornament that plays music and dialogue for the movie. Libby was excited to see her ornaments, and especially those that reminded her of our Disney trip last year. I love all the ones with her little handprints and various others that she has made.
And Matthew keeps telling us that the house is beautiful and saying, "Happy Birthday, Christmas!"
What joyful souls! I'm so excited to share this season with them.
