Our snow hit at 3:30 p.m. and then stopped for us to go do dinner a little early. Then, it snowed again later in the evening. By morning we had probably a little over an inch of snow. After breakfast, we all suited up (it was darn cold) and 45 minutes later, ventured out.
Libby was pretty excited to put the sleds to use - and at first Matthew was, too. While Libby was excited to use the larger sled first, the disk turned out to be her favorite.
Matthew was happiest walking around with this stick.
But eventually climbed into the big sled, too.
Some videos:
Matthew really liked following Daddy on the street.
Libby made a couple of snow angels. Yes, it only took two swipes to reach grass. But I see it as really making the angel stand out nicely.
And in the back yard, Libby and Michael made a tiny little snowman on the table. The snow was very powdery, so it was tough to make even a small snowball.
When Matthew's fingers were frozen and and we were all just about over it, we came inside and put the hot chocolate we got for Christmas to good use.
But before that, I talked Daddy into having a sled.
Inside, Matthew and Libby helped with the preparations.
And Matthew could not possibly be expected to wait for his chocolate before enjoying a marshmallow!
Matthew was a total mess, as you can imagine from the photo. There is no doubt the hot chocolate experience was the highlight of his day. He made his displeasure at having to leave it for a brief time to get Libby's hair cut well known.
Libby told me two weeks ago that she wanted her hair cut short again "maybe the Saturday after my birthday party." So I set it up! The roads were fine, despite the snowfall while we were outside in the morning since the ground was warm and wet from days' worth of snow beforehand.
And isn't it precious?! It does make her look more grown-up in some ways, but in some, it makes her just look even more petite that I think it balances out. It just suits her so well.
The weather was also good enough to let us freeze our tails off to attend the Cobb Chamber annual dinner meeting at the Galleria.
It was both work and pleasure for both us us, and we got to spend a bit of fun time and dancing with Lindsi & Tyler, too!
Plus, a bonus for the kiddos- Sarah got to babysit! They had a ball making pizza, playing in the tub, making tents AND watching a movie from beneath it in the den, and in Libby's case, staying up late. Of course, I swear she's still tired from it this week. Sunday was Michael's Christmas present: tickets for the two of us to see "The Book of Mormon" at the Fox. Diddy got to babysit, which was also a special delight for all parties!
And boy was our show fun. It is not for the faint of heart, but if you know what you're getting into, oh what a fun ride. Just so well done on every level.
One other thing about Monday of last week, I took the kiddos to Athens for the day.
We ate brunch at The Grit, (where the kids possibly ate more than they ever have at one meal in their lives), I got some Jittery Joe's on the way out of town, we visited Bear Hollow nature trail, and most importantly, met Thomas Sperr (five months), and spend time with his parents Megan & Brad, and brother William (four years). We also got to hang out with Amanda Tedrow during our visit!
I sadly managed no Thomas pictures - but he is super cute and I loved getting to play with him for a bit.
Today, Libby had a great dental visit and got sealants on her six year molar. They said the next is getting ready to break through so check it out in about six weeks and if it's out to go ahead and get her in for it. I also made an appointment for Matthew's first visit in two weeks.
She also had a good visit to the doctor for her six year check-up. She's in the 10th percentile for weight (36.2 lbs.) and 5-10th for height (42 1/4 in.)
And Matthew boy has started just saying "please" when he asks for things. It is really a magic word when your child uses it!!! His teachers complimented him today to me because he asked if they would please get him a toy off the shelf. WOW! Go boy!
