On Saturday, we all said, "bye, bye baby furniture."
And Matthew said hello to his big boy bed!
Before Matthew got to see it, we got the room as ready as possible. Of course, we had to attach the bed frame to the new head board - and of course that required TWO trips to Home Depot.
The custom-made headboard was designed by one of our high school classmates, who has a furniture business and who also built it, and me. I was so excited with how it all turned out. I found the linens WAY back, even before the headboard, and I knew they would be perfect. I'm really delighted with it all (even if I need to re-center his name art.)
But we got it done, and were excited for the "big reveal!"
And both kids were pretty excited about it all.
Including the car rug being spread on the floor in his room. Suddenly he's dying to play in there! And he was very excited to see his new "Cars" sheets that he got last Christmas.
He and Libby had to test it all out right away.
Sarah and Juan graciously accepted our beloved crib, changing table and glider, where our babies had so many basic needs filled in their early days and years at our house to use with their baby. Aunt Toni and Uncle John are fortunately even using the sweet bunny toile linens for their house. They really are perfect for their house.
Matthew's first nap worked!
He's been getting up kind of a lot in the middle of the night lately... and REALLY early in the morning. But really the bed has helped him "re-set" a bit. He may have fallen out the first night, but we can't be totally sure. He was fine though when he came to tell us about it around 3:30 a.m.
This is the main part of his 3rd birthday gift, just like with Libby's. Happy EARLY Birthday, Matthew! You're growing up way too fast. We love you and want to "kiss each other at the same time" just as much as you want!
