Libby's First School Dance

Daddy made it back home on Friday night, and of course, went to Mexican for dinner to celebrate!

Libby attended her first school dance on Friday night, the "Winter Wonderland" dance. Libby asked me to take her, so there was no way I could turn that down! Michael got her ready, so major thanks to him on that. And I may have enjoyed a treat before we went, too.

The dance was way fancier than any elementary "sock hop" that I recall attending in our cafeteria.

There was food of all kinds for sale in the cafeteria, and then the dance itself was in the gym. It was dark, with glow-stuff for sale, and boy, the music was contemporary!

There was Katy Perry, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and more. Libby spent much of the dance with her friends Reagan and Joanna (from her class last year). She and Joanna did a LOT of playing tag. Libby also found room to practice her running cartwheels, many times over. But, she also saved some of her dances for Mama. And it was this Mama's dream come true. I go to fast and slow-dance with my girl, and hold her up in my arms. I could have held those short moments forEVER.

When she wasn't dancing directly with me, I got to chat with some of the other parents, and fit in some dancing myself, too. "Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums is perfect for the Christmas Snap, from my Social dance days in Augusta. I'll have to teach Libby someday, but she was busy doing her own thing. And she wouldn't even do the Cupid Shuffle, which she knows well from school.

My girlie is also ready for her Jump Rope for Heart at school on Tuesday. She's been practicing at school and at home! So cute.

And while we girls were at the dance, Daddy and Matthew had a bit of a movie night, watching "Finding Dory!"

Kids just wanna have fun!
