Michael's Birthday, Weekend, Filling!

My cutie little guy has got the music in him. Lately, he has loved singing "My Favorite Things" with us. Mimi introduced him to it, and he's so precious when he sings what he calls, "Raindrops on Roses" with us. Also, which he sings the refrain of "Soft Kitty," the way he says "purr" is "pour, pour, pour." So precious.

Michael had a decent birthday this year. I always feel bad that he always gets the short end of the stick because his birthday falls during his busy season.

This year, he had work, and when he got home, the kids had already gone to Gigi and Papa's house. Of course, he agreed to this in advance, and we so appreciate the grandparents taking them, but he missed them, too. However, we got to see "Hidden Figures," and we both enjoyed it. I'm currently reading it too, but the book is different enough from the movie that I've really enjoyed both.

After the movie, his birthday dinner was mostly chips and queso at Mexican, along with a shared half pitcher of margaritas.

Saturday afternoon, following Michael finishing up work for the day, we headed up to Cedartown to visit Gigi and Papa.

Papa and Michael got to take the kids over to the golf course for a couple of hours! Libby did some driving of the cart, as well as driving the ball from the tee and doing some putting. Evidently, my putter could use a new grip, because it was rubbing off in her tiny hands. Matthew, meanwhile, enjoyed filling in sand divots. He also got to help drive the golf car and took a few swings himself.

We enjoyed some tasty short ribs, mashed potatoes and roasted green beans for dinner -- yum! Then, it was time for GIANT cupcakes for Michael's birthday dessert. He got one that was cookies and cream, which is his favorite.

Sunday was more yummy breakfast and playtime for the kids before Daddy had to get home for more work, and we met Mimi and Diddy for church. Our organist there was actually about to wrap up his run as "Schroeder" in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" with the Rome Little Theater. We decided last-minute to take the kids!

First, we enjoyed a quick lunch at Schroeder's New Deli, where they enjoyed pizza and fried okra, and then we stopped to spend some time with Mema Mabel. She was finishing up lunch, but we got some time with just her back in her room, too. We filled her in on all the latest from the kids.

At the theater, Matthew spent the first bit of it on the edge of his seat. After that, there was a bit of wandering, but he really did enjoy the show, as did Libby. They were cute talking about it afterward. We decided not to press our luck with Matthew and left after the first act, but it was at least an hour long. He did great!

Post-"Good Man," we went back home, changed and let the kids get outside and enjoy the weather with my old tricycle, scooter and such. They also played with magic sand, creating brownies and other delicacies, including Matthew providing us with Communion! He had balled up some of the sand, and went to each of us with it in his hand, saying "This is my body, given for you." I mean. Wow. We were certainly touched and gave this process the reverence it deserved.

Mimi also made some of us Cosmos for our cocktails before a tasty lasagna dinner.

On Monday, we played in the basement, ate a lovely breakfast and scouted through some old photos, too. Check out these below -- me at age four, and Matthew at three! 

We also got to visit the Labyrinth -- my first trip to this storied locale! We also visited Ridge Ferry Park where the kids climbed, ran, slid, jumped and money-barred to their hearts' content. 

These activities worked up an appetite, too! So, Las Palmas was the selected stop.

Sadly, I had to get home after that for work, too. Libby and Matthew, however, got to stay! It's Winter Break this week for our school district... and yes, the weather highs are expected to be in the mid-70s (see the short sleeves below?) and lows in the mid-50s.

They received a cycling demo from Diddy on Monday evening (since they've never seen their parents on bikes!) and enjoyed every minute. They even took turns riding with him!

After a breakfast at Chick-fil-A this morning. Mimi brought the babies back today.

And she took Libby to have a cavity in her tooth filled -- her first! I understand that she was a champ about it. She recovered well this afternoon too, and her dentist even called to check on how she was doing. So sweet!

Michael was more than happy to see his babies again tonight, and more than happy that Libby chose him to put her to bed.
