Peter Rabbit

So I'm not sure whether everyone knows or not, but Michael and I have decided not to find out Baby G's sex early and instead leave it as a surprise for his or her birth-day!  Of course, this makes it more of a 'fun challenge' for us - and those purchasing gender neutral gifts - which are few and far between these days since it seems hardly anyone can wait to find out whether their child is more likely (certainly not definitely) to be into ballet or tee ball at a young age.  Therefore, most of the items we've registered for tend to be yellow, green or blue - as a girl can have blue, but boys, probably not so much with the pink!

The one area it may tend to the slightly more girly side is the nursery.  We have tons of bunnies in our front and back yard, and while their names are not Benjamin or Peter (we've actually named them 'Scarlett O'Hare,' 'Rhett Bunny' and 'Bonnie Blue Bunny,' and use them interchangeably), Michael thought it might be okay to incorporate bunnies into the theme of our nursery.  As an Anglophile and book-lover, myself, our theme just made perfect sense!

I figure if baby is a boy, he's just a sweet soft baby anyway, and the colors and themes are perfect for baby!

While our nursery is not yet complete, it IS well on its way, thanks to Marmena and GiGi.  And to give you a small sneak peak- here's one of the MANY paintings Marmena has painted for the baby's room.  She painted them and had them framed as shower gifts- but heck, I'm waiting to find out whether we're having a boy or a girl, so I think it's more than fine to get a few gifts in advance!  I guess you can tell the theme now!

Isn't this going to be the most spoiled rotten baby?!

  1. I think it's wonderful that you're so excited abou the nursery! Especially, since it's non-gender specific. I love the Beatrix Potter theme and loved the picture your Mom painted. Wait till you see the rest!

  2. Funny bunny names. And I have it on good authority from my mom that the paintings are all gorgeous, but everything your mom does is gorgeous. Can't wait to see them!

  3. Hey Marie- I just found your blog, and it's precious! Congratulations!! I wanted to tell you that I have a cousin (who has a little boy and is expecting another little boy) who did her nursery in Peter Rabbit. Aside from Mary Lynne's nursery, it's my favorite nursery I've ever seen! I'm pretty sure she found fabric and had hers made to save money, but this is the fabric:

I think it would be perfect for a boy or girl. I hope you continue to feel well!

  4. Rhonda,
That's very similar to our bedding! The bunny toile is the same! I'm ticked though b/c I thought I was being semi-original, as you don't see Beatrix everywhere these days. However- now Pottery Barn has come out with their line of Peter Rabbit stuff! I think they saw my blog- ha!
