It looks like if I can find the time, I'll have several posts this week.
First up is Libby's first mini-break/slumber party at her grandparents' house without either of her parents! It's true. On Saturday, Libby packed up her "I'm Going to Grandma's" suitcase again and headed off to Gigi and Papa's house to spend the night. Without me. Without her father. And... she rode off facing forward in their car! (I haven't turned her around from rear-facing in ours yet.) She looked like such a big girl!
I cried pretty hard after she left since I was all by myself. And then I cried again when Michael got home from work and she still wasn't there. I got busy with my long to-do list after my short cry and still had a few things left to do on Sunday, but I'd trade all I got accomplished to have her with me. That list included sorting her too small clothes and bigger ones that she'll seen be wearing (always an emotionally tough job). Libby is my baby, my big girl, my sidekick and constant companion now. Shoot- I miss her when she naps for a long time. I miss her after she goes to bed at night and before she gets up in the morning. After we picked her up yesterday, we only had time to get her into bed last night and it was already past her bed time. But just knowing that she was sleeping in her room made everything right with the world. I understand my parents more and more each day. (That's for you, Dad!)
When we picked her up, she did actually seem happy to see us, so that was good for the heart. We also got to celebrate Michael's upcoming birthday with his parents. Gigi fixed his favorite dinner, Basil Cream Chicken. Now what will I make...? Hmmm....
She had a wonderful time with Gigi and Papa, scouting the neighborhood on two legs and feet (you know, walking around - and practically running these days.) She is so interested in nature and the outdoors and I'm obviously very pleased that the weather has been a bit better over the last few days. I can't wait for the rest of this week!
And I'm truly thankful that Libby's grandparents play such active roles in her life. We are a very blessed family and we shouldn't take it for granted.
Michael and I also got to have a little early Valentine's celebration on Saturday. I took him to JCT Kitchen (yum!) and he took me to a performance of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Fox. Actually, the theater was a Christmas gift, but I figured it counted for Valentine's, too. (I'll do another blog on that.) However, Michael also fixed us some yummy BBQ chicken tonight for dinner and I got a few other gifts too - one to enjoy now and one is for another performance and night out!
Libby and I got HIM some photos, which also counted for her one-year photos: http://smilestore.picturepeople.com/PR3/ThumbPage.aspx?e=7866675. (Another post on that experience, too!)
Happy Valentine's Day!

mmm basil cream chicken. I should make that soon.
ReplyDeleteWe truly were so over joyed to keep Libby this last weekend on her first ever sleep over. She was a doll, as usual. Showed extreme curiosity in exploring our house (it's been a couple of months since she's been here and immediately toured it, by herself, with us only following her and answering her questions), loved being in our great outdoors (objected to being fenced in the back yard and demanded my opening the gate so she could access the deck, back drive, front yard, and attempted to cross two roads to access neighbors' yards), and enjoyed Papa's French toast for breakfast! She is at a wonderful age and wants to know everything! We are truly, truly blessed to have a loving family that shares with us. GiGi and Papa

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for sharing our news in a previous post...I am working on getting the blog updated.
