Savannah

On Saturday, Libby, Marmena and I gathered up our (extensive) gear and headed out to Savannah for a quick visit to see Libby's great-grandparents there!

I planned it so we left a little before Libby's morning nap time in hopes that she'd get a good nap in an use up a chunk of the long trip in the car.  She had a great nap and we made it all the way to Metter before stopping for lunch.  We got out, ate at Zaxby's, stretched our legs and Libby made friends with the twin five year-olds at the next table.  We also happened to visit up right around the same time, so we got to meet their dog for a minute before loading back up into the car.  It was evident that Libby already missed Commissioner judging from the squeals about seeing the dog.  The level of her excitement over dogs warms my heart.  It is beyond cute.

We got to Savannah with zero upset-ness!  I called it "Marmena Magic," as she was better than my wildest dreams.  She entertained herself, played with us in the mirrors and I sat with her for a little while to play, too.  She was awesome!

We had a great visit with lots of outside time, inside time, fun foods to eat and lots of adoring fans!  Libby's favorite things other than Mema and Boobus' yard, was the dog statues (one inside and one outside) at Mema's and the little girl and horse statues at Mema Mabel's - in addition to the magnets on their refrigerators.

Enjoying a ride on Boobus' plant wagon!

The best way to travel!

One of MANY kisses for the doggy statue!

Mema's got her toes again!

Riding Alfred, the zebra, just like her Mommy and cousins Sarah and Millie did around that age!
We had a pretty darn successful trip overall and even the majority of the ride home was pleasurable.  There were only some sad moments from about the one hour mark from home (or a little less) and they were still only moments rather than extended sad periods.

I enjoyed sharing Libby with her great-grandparents, but my favorite moment of our trip was a bit selfish.  Libby and I shared a bedroom the first night and the next morning, after about 20 minutes of entertaining herself when she first woke up, I felt her little hands hitting the mattress next to my feet.  She was standing up in her pack and play, waking me up for the day just smiling her gorgeous smile and making my day from the second that it started!

Tonight while we made up for not being home the last few days with lots of toy-playing time, she pulled the letter "F" out of her play mat, carried it over to me and pointed to the letter "F" on the t-shirt I was wearing.  Pretty cool!

Last week Libby also got a little extra family time getting to meet her Aunt Sheryl and Uncle Jim from Ohio (GiGi's sister and brother-in-law) in Cedartown for a few hours.  And she got more time with Millie and Aunt Toni with a visit while Marmena watched her on Friday!

Libby!  She has such a joyful soul.
