More from The Beach

More on the beach/pool - a video of her boldness/determination/spirit/wild baby-ness:

Libby also hit a growth spurt the week before and week of the trip, making her food enjoyment great as well as her tiredness.  This week, her canines are about to break through the gums!

Some of her latest things are reminding us to us say the blessing before our meal, during our meal and any time she sees my hands together at the table.  Our grace is: "We thank the Lord for happy hearts, for rain and sunny weather.  We thank the Lord for this our food and that we are together."  Michael learned that one going to school at Darlington in Pre-K and his family always said it.  It was a new tradition that I loved adding to our family.  (My usual one being the "God is Great..." blessing.)  We also have a plate on the wall with "An Irish Blessing" on it (a wedding gift from Michael's aunt).  She asked about it one day, so I read it to her and she loves that, too.  So we read it fairly often when we're not saying grace or swatting mosquitoes...

She also loves swatting mosquitoes!  Real or (usually) imaginary.  She doesn't really so much notice them when we play outside because she's too busy with other things.  However, when we're inside, if she's just getting up from her nap, on the changing table, at the dinner table - or anywhere the mood might strike her - she goes crazy swatting mosquitos from her legs, arms, head and yours, too!  She thinks that it's just about the funniest thing since Commissioner.

Libby has begun sharing her water with her various stuffed animals.  She sometimes carries around her sippy cup and puts the spout to their mouths so they can drink some, too!  (Pretty thoughtful if you ask me.)  She also prefers that her water have ice - at least two cubes.  And she can climb on and off of her rocking horse all my herself!  She continues to enjoy PBS's "Super Why!" and music in general.  We're also making our first attempt at potty training (or "toilet learning" as is the apparent new PC term.)  No luck yet, but she'd been telling us that she was ready to get started.  We'll see what happens!

During vacation this year I got to read two books (though I brought three, just in case)!  My book club selection for the month was "What Alice Forgot" by Liane Moriarty and I read it in the first couple of days.  Then I took a break to read "Entertainment Weekly's" special Harry Potter edition to get excited for the final movie.  On the way home I read "Half Broke Horses" and loved it!  Actually I enjoyed both books a great deal.  "What Alice Forgot" is considered "chick-lit," but I thought that it went a bit deeper than the usual.  It certainly made me think and I believe we'll have plenty to discuss.  "Half Broke Horses" is fiction, but based on the life of the author's grandmother.  It was excellent and boy was she a tough woman!  She even reminded me a great deal of a coworker of mine who I recently said should have a book written about her life!

Now I'm re-reading "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" before we see the last one hopefully next weekend!  (But first Michael has to see HPDH Part 1, which I intend to rent this weekend.)
