The Latest Around Here

Since I mentioned it in the last post, I have to update you on the church concert.  It lasted an hour and a half, it was mainly chamber music, with handbells, the choir and then an incredible, world-class soprano, Meredith Zara.  It was really quite enjoyable!  Libby must have thought so too, because she was on great behavior the whole time!  There was only one minor hymnal being dropped issue and only the people right around her could hear it.  I'd wager that she received as many compliments after the show as the soprano!

She's also been on a major galloping kick lately.  We've stared using the Monty Python galloping score for her own soundtrack.  It's yet another "kid" move, as she takes more and more steps in that direction... Kid-dom.

Along with her brilliance at feeding herself cereal and soup.  I'm sorry, but that's pretty tough and she's a total pro.

She also discovered Froot Loops. Awhile back, I bought a variety pack of those little mini boxes of cereal for her to try the occasional different one for a treat.  She wasn't into most of them, so I wound up eating them.  I gave her the Froot Loop box to play with and I guess eventually she began to identify with it?  She eventually started asking for the other mini-box and decided that she likes them.  She finished that box, so I figured I'd better get a bigger one in case there was a need.  Well, now Cheerios makes a fruity variety and while it's probably equally bad for you, it seemed like it would be the healthier option.  Anyway, she doesn't get them every day, but she IS a fan.  With "Miss Vegetarian" 99 percent of the time, it's nice to know that we really are related!

Her Daddy is her very favorite person these days!  She starts asking about him, where he is and when he'll be back just minutes after he leaves for work in the morning.  He's the one she chooses to give her a bath, and the minute she gets up from her nap, she starts asking about when he'll be home and frequenting the garage door.  Her favorite video is one on my computer of the two of them at the aquarium watching fish.  It is so sweet!

Now, on my front, I'm in pretty good shape and everyone I know seems to be entering 10Ks, half-marathons or Ironman marathons (insane.)  So, I was thinking it would be fun to do a 10K myself, or even a half in the spring.  I think I could handle a 5K pretty easily at the moment, so a goal to shoot for would be fun.  However, it would be hard to train in the winter with Michael's work/out of town schedule, and today I jogged about three miles and already my knee is giving me trouble.  I already knew this about my knee(s), but thought I might give it a shot.  So much for that.  I'm still proud of how well I've done with exercise and eating right since Libby came along and I feel better no matter whether I'm running a 10K or doing my usual stuff, I know I'm healthier, happier, a good role model and I'm doing all I can to be around for my daughter for a long, long time.
