An Explaination

I know! It's WAY too long since I last posted- and there's so much to address!

My excuse is that Libby got sick sick and then I got sick sick and THEN my computer hard drive got sick and died.

So instead of beginning to catch up with what's really fresh in my mind, I'm going to go back semi-chronologically in an effort to get back on track.

After the last post, I was so looking forward to watching Libby (via closed circuit TV in the building) in her new gymnastics class! Well, there are a number of classes that start at the same time as hers and I didn't know exactly where to head with her. The teachers come out and get them, but Libby apparently had it in her head to follow Ms. Ashley rather than Ms. Nicki and therefore started out in the dance/gym combo class before Ms. Ashley nicely escorted her to her own class. I was highly amused. Once she got to her class, she was the first to get moving on the first circuit of the equipment. My favorite was watching her hold on the the bar while walking up the wall and then flipping over the bar (okay, she had some teacher assistance on the flip, but it was pretty awesome). She practically ran across the low beam (no help, no hands) and somersaulted (unassisted obviously) down the big wedge cushion. Oh and for the "alligator stretch" rather than spreading her legs and and clapping them shut while seated, she decided it was time to do the splits. Her teachers were amused- and impressed as they were discussing it after class. Sounds like time for dance classes to me!

On Tuesday at school, Libby made a headdress, complete with GREEN feather and a drum, complete with a green duct tape lid to hold it all together. They also got to make "bead" necklaces (the beads being Froot Loops, which was also that day's snack). I love lots of things about her school, including their practicality!

Then, we went to Rome to spend a little time there after school on Tuesday since Michael was out of town. I didn't tell Libby we were going until we were on the way and she was so excited - though she did guess where we were headed almost immediately. Mimi took great care of us (even though SHE was the one recovering from a cold/sinus thing) and we got to eat at Libby's favorite: Pick O'Deli for some fried okra! We also made a quick stop by Diddy's office and had an all-around good visit.

Libby got a new little bus to go with her mega-blocks at Mimi's, too. There's a little girl figure that came as the bus driver and, on a whim, I asked Libby what her name was. Libby's never really named any of her dolls yet. I didn't really expect an answer, either; but I got one: Mary Etta! I asked Libby again what the girl's name was, and Libby clearly answered, "Mary Etta." Pretty hilarious. We've talked a lot about Mary Etta since then, too.

Two other funnies that I want to remember: yogurt is pronounced, "YOH-grit," and bottom is "BAH-min." Oh and in the days before this, we'd been doing a lot of dance partying after dinner to Aretha Franklin, the Beach Boys, the Beatles and some awesome oldies like that and she is so into it. I LOVE that Libby is going to know the oldies. It horrifies me some of the things that "kids today" don't know about - particularly movies and music within pop culture. For the most part, they learn real history and they get doses of classic literature, but darn I think pop culture is important too, and Libby's going to know it!

Okay- personal rant over.

Thursday was back to school and you have to see the turkey she made, along with the decorations outside of her classroom!

Libby's- in case you can't read it, it says, "I am Thankful for: Mommy & Daddy, Mimi, GiGi, trick or treating."
We couldn't believe Commissioner was beat out by trick-or-treating. On the other hand, they DID do this project the day after Halloween, so... top of mind and all that I guess.

And from a child in the MWF class- "Mommy & Daddy, my sister, spider man, school."
School? Really? Come on- I guess there's always one kiss up, right?

Okay, okay- I'm surprised that Libby didn't say it. They also had a Thanksgiving feast for their class party with a yogurt smoothie, wheat crackers and cheese, and "leaves" (leaf cookies).

Before school, Libby had her check out Dr's appointment for her ear infection and was deemed all clear. Since we had to go so early, we stopped for breakfast on the way to school for a very special treat!

That's a Dunkin Donuts bag - and she downed three munchkins that morning!
Mimi arrived in time to pick her up from school because I'd had to go to the office to get some things taken care of for work and got held up there. I was back before her nap, but Mimi saved us both that day!

...and at dinner and after... she saved us again.
