Sick- ICK!

So after her nap on Thursday, it was clear that Miss Libby was tired.

Then at dinner, she complained of her tummy hurting. Now, she's made this complaint before with absolutely nothing that came of it. However, this time she was not kidding... as we soon found out!

Thank goodness Mimi was there to help clean up so Mommy could do some old fashioned comforting and loving. Libby would sit in my lap between being sick, and look up at me with those wide, tired and downtrodden eyes, and say, "Ibby's dohnna feeul bettah." (Translation: "Libby's going to feel better.") It was about the most pitiful thing I've ever seen; her trying to reassure me and herself at the same time.

I told her that if I could be sick instead of her, I would gladly take it on. And I meant it. But it doesn't seem as if it was a trade off so much as a "tag, you're it" a few days later.

She finally finished up around 11:15 p.m. and never had a fever or anything. She was so hard on herself about not wanting to make a mess that at one point I wasn't certain that I'd ever be able to get her to let go of holding the toilet bowl. (Side note: I don't think she ever actually got sick in the toilet, but she did make the trash can a couple of times. We had several clothing changes, a couple of sheet/towel changes and a shower.) The next day she took it pretty easy though in the morning she was fairly bouncy, so I went to work, not being able to justify my absence when Libby was clearly far along on the mend - and it turned out to be pretty hectic!

Saturday morning she was a little slow, but we all felt pretty good by then.

We went to Ryan's 3rd birthday party without a care in the world, except that I was a little cranky.

Well, that evening, I discovered why: I was coming down with the virus that had gotten Libby. (And on Sunday afternoon, I found out Mimi had gotten it that night, too!) Sick. All. Night. On Sunday I made it to the couch, to the table, back to the couch and back upstairs and repeated that maybe twice during the day so I could be with Libby a little bit. I could barely eat toast, but I tried to eat some since when my stomach is really empty heartburn sets in and can last for days or weeks. I don't remember ever being so sick like that in my life. I've had some terrible sinus infections, strep throat multiple years in a row and the flu. But this was different. At the very least I haven't felt so bad in years.

I drug my weak and tired butt to work on Monday (went in late, but also had a late night) and rested a bit more on Tuesday. I managed to take Libby and Commissioner for a short and slow walk so that I could justify going with Mandy to dinner and a movie that night- and by golly I made it.

Thank goodness Michael never caught it and we didn't seem to pass it to any other unsuspecting victims! Michael was awesome while I was "out" and thank goodness he was here. I never woulda made it on my own with the girls with this one.

I seriously am still dealing with a few effects, but got to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner (even if I had to lay off a bit on a few things.)

I hope to be back to 100% in a day or two!
