"Why?"

"Why?" has officially become Libby's favorite word! I know that it's a great thing, but since she's bit a bit obstinate this week, it can sometimes be quite the combo for Mommy all day.

Here's a sample:
Libby: "What's that?"
Me: "Wrapping paper."
L: "Why?"
M: "For Ryan's birthday gift."
L: "Why?"
M: "So it will cover his gift."
L: "Why?"
M: "So the gift will be a surprise."
L: "Why?"
M: "Because it's traditionally what people do with gifts."
L: "Why?"

...you get the idea. It's pretty cute and I appreciate her interest, big time. Buuut, it can be exhausting. I hope she stops before she gets to really tough questions. I find that it's really good to start each day with a prayer. For this and other things.

Because it's been a zany and strange week, and tough in some ways, I've tried to take a chill pill and just enjoy Libby as much as possible. On election morning, we went to a special breakfast with Sheridan since Libby was out of school. Libby was precious when Michael came home from work. Her first words were, "Daddy VOTED!" I was pretty proud.

Yesterday, to push through a weird day, Libby and I went with friends to take the dog for a walk and got caught in the freezing rain! A bit of a run ensued and then we got to go to her gymnastics spot for some free play. Nothing makes me smile like seeing Libby smile.

We may have even picked up lunch on the way home- another treat. Libby calls just about everything, "A special treat." Wouldn't it be nice if that was our perspective all the time? I try to keep that in mind.

The time change seems to have gotten to all of us a bit. The morning sleeping part isn't a problem, but boy, the rest of the day can get a little rough at times. Poor Michael, I think he only seems me in sweats or pajamas in the winter!

And Libby continues to be very interested in "What's after this nap?" Dang she's a planner just like her mother. Poor little thing!
