Halloween 2012

Note: All quality photos on this post are by the great Lindsi Pearson- including the Nadine ones!

First, I don't think I've shared yet, how Libby asks sometimes after her nap for, "Too many animals!" That means she wants every stuffed animal in her room to go into her crib with her. Here are a few shots of just what that looks like (and let's keep in mind that there are more animals downstairs and the ones in the bed are piled up on top of each other. Oh as her request also includes an a throw pillow and all of her blankets.)

Where's Libby?

When she's not playing an extra long time in her crib, this week, she's been dancing or doing other things related to Halloween.

Of course, she had her party at school on Tuesday and the kids had a great day. Libby's been enjoying her treats from school the most all week and her teachers said they couldn't wait to hear how her trick-or-treating was around the neighborhood, because she was so into it when the trick-or-treated from class to class at school. They made their own little bags to carry and everything. Her costume requirement for school had to be something that was potty-friendly (so no ladybug costume!)

She went at a UGA cheerleader!

On Wednesday, I got to spend the whole day with Libby and didn't have a ton of pressing things to do, so we had a great day together! We took it easy and slow in the morning, or as Libby likes to say, "just gonna hang out," with her helping me get the chili together to cook all day in the slow cooker and make cornbread to go with it, too.

We got to dance to a Kid Halloween station on Pandora with songs like "Purple People Eater," "This is Halloween," "Ghostbusters Theme" and her favorite, "Monster Mash," in our jammies and take Commissioner for a walk when it got warm enough, too. It was COLD a lot of this week and Halloween was no exception. Thank goodness her costume allowed for layers and included a hat, because with her wings, wearing a coat would have been a challenge.

When Libby got up from her nap, Ty was already over and ready to play before dinner and trick-or-treating! "That is a special treat," said Libby.

They took turns sliding off the slide and into the ball pit and Libby showed him, "some movie." I believe that day it was a Halloween Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, "Minnie's Masquerade." They also decorated paper cut-out pumpkins and did a little playing outside.

Next thing we knew, it was time to get dressed and get going! Shere Khan got dressed first!

And then Libby did, too!

Libby and Ty practically raced to every door. Libby did not want any help climbing the crazy amount of steps or hills in our neighborhood; however, she did request that I carry her candy bag between each stop. Half the time she got to the door with no bag at all! She was quite clear with her, "Trick-or-Treat!" saying though, and pretty darn good with her "thank you's," too. We let the kids run a bit in our cul-de-sac, but had to put a quick stop to that when they got a little carried away a few houses into it and after it became a little dark. I seriously had a workout trying to keep up and thing running with her back to the house mid-way through to re-stock our candy bowl since no one was here to hand it out (Michael was sadly out of town for most of the week, missing Halloween.) Another reason I was grateful to have Ty and his parents come over to play with us! Sadly, the Arnolds had to work late too, so Ryan stuck to his own neighborhood for the evening this year. We missed them!

And when we got home, Libby asked for just "one piece of candy?" Of course that was allowed!

Her favorite candies have been the fruit gummy chewy things we gave out and lollipops.

On Thursday, I had to work, so Libby got to spend time with Mimi and on Friday, we got to have lunch with a friend, who picked Mexican for lunch. So Libby got to her her favorite meal: cheese quesadilla twice in one day! I also noticed a change in her runny nose and a minor change in attitude on Thursday/Friday, so wound up calling the doctor that morning and we got in to see another doctor in the practice mid-morning. Turns out Libby's cold had turned into a sinus infection and ear infection in one ear. So glad I called this time instead of trying to wait through the weekend! I really don't think anyone else would have known except her Momma. There was just something not quite right even though she wasn't complaining, had no fever and said her ears were fine when I asked her directly. Ah sometimes it's nice to feel like you know what you're doing and do something right! Of course, she still acts like she thinks I'm pretty much the best mother imaginable, but I feel like I question myself still all day most days. But anyway, she's a tough bird when she's sick and she does not get that from me! I can certainly be tough and push through, but I'm happy to let everyone know just how terrible I'm feeling while I do it. Ha. So she's on antibiotics again and we have a check-up appointment in two weeks. Hopefully she's on the road to real recovery after about three weeks of some illness.

I also got to help Lindsi and some other friends host a baby shower for our friend, Nadine, today. We had a really lovely time and I think Nadine has just about all the basics (and more!) covered to get started with her new baby Finn, who is due in just over a month! I look forward for a little quality time with a tiny baby again! Especially when I can give him back to his mother to meet the real day-in, day-out needs!

Beautiful Momma:

Also, Nadine gave us cute mugs with yummy hot chocolate and some fine chocolates for our hostess gifts. The inside of my mug is a beautiful muted blue/grey and I think I want to paint my kitchen that color now! I adore it. However, the painting will have to wait a few more months though, at least, because...

Now our chimney is torn up and the backyard is covered with equipment, etc. to replace wood, etc. where a stupid woodpecker has been attacking it! More expensive entertainment for Libby!
