Mac and Cheese

If you've been at our house lately, you've no doubt heard, or been asked to tell, Daddy's "mac and cheese story." Libby adores it and asks him (or even me, a poor substitute if Daddy's not around) to tell it to her. Hold on to your hat, because it's pretty enthralling.

Daddy: "Libby, when I was little - well, young enough to stay home by myself for a couple of hours - maybe 10 or so years old, sometimes Gigi and Papa would have to work late, or Gigi had tennis or a meeting to go to.  She still had to fix something for me to eat, so sometimes, she would fix me a big pot of macaroni and cheese for dinner and some peas for me to eat with it! And sometimes I would just scoop it right from the pot with a big spoon into my mouth instead of using a plate, so it would be one less thing to wash!"

That's the story. Who knew my husband had a literary career in front of him?!

Really it's more sweet evidence of how much Libby adores her Daddy, considering the "moth story" (Daddy once killed a moth when Libby was probably 18 months old and she brings it up regularly) still lingers with us.

Another cute thing? "Bah-min." Have I already told you that's how she says, "bottom?" Sorry if I have- it's just cute and I know she'll probably grow out of saying it soon.

Libby also has a fancy new way of putting on her coat, learned at school from Aunt Toni! She lays it out in front of her, spread open with the collar towards her, reaches her arms into the sleeves, lifts it over her head, and like magic, it's on! What a cool trick! Never have seen that one before.

Unfortunately, Libby is having a bit of the "terrible threes," I think. She has at least one meltdown per day when something doesn't go her ideal way. (Okay, sometimes I'm like that too- but now I see that it's kind of annoying to those who have to put up with it on a regular basis.) Ha. It's so hard when you aren't in control, but think you should be! Poor baby girl. And she was doing great with keeping everything dry at nap time - but no more, really. I've had to do too many rushed loads of whites lately, so she's back to pull-ups every nap time at the moment. If she keeps them dry - and only if she keeps them dry - she's allowed to watch a bit of tv or a movie with her milk when she wakes up from her nap. But if they're wet - no movie. You know what that means, right? Meltdown.  Oh well- this too shall pass!

I read a quote from St. Teresa of Avila and I love it. I am trying to keep it in mind each day:
"Let nothing upset you,
Let nothing startle you.
All things pass;
God does not change.
Patience wins all it seeks.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone is enough."

Next up?! Fun at the vet tomorrow for Commissioner's annual exam and vaccines and Thursday is the big school Valentine's program!!!
