Libby's June Get-Away

Libby got to have some special time with her grandparents last weekend and in to this week while Michael and I attended a conference for his work in Hot Springs, Virginia. We just got home last evening with our Libby and our Commish, but we got updates from the grandparents while we were away.

So you get the benefit of them now!

First, she went to "Camp Rome" with my parents from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening. The rundown is here:

Camp Rome: June 2013

Camp Rome got off to a bit of a late start (didn't get to pic up Miss B until 4 o'clock on Friday). By the time we got home it was 4:30 and way to late for a nap, so we powered through. Miss B did have some down time, watching Chitty Chitty and drinking her milk. Then it was more little people playing. At about 5:30 Diddy arrived home, changed clothes and we were off to Libby's restaurant of choice, Pick O'Deli for okra and black-eyed peas, and "nothin else Mimi."After dinner the rain had stopped, so we decided to take Miss B to what we think is her first baseball game at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves.... (Mom note: this was indeed her first Rome Braves game. She did attend a Gwinnett Braves game the summer before last.) and it was a hit. Miss B was very interested in the "guys" on the field. So Diddy and I explained about the bat, ball, pitching (pitcher mound), running the bases and scoring points. (Here, we had to laugh again- Libby's already behind, since they're "runs," not points...) She watched several plays, enjoyed the cheerleaders (she even made friends with one who let her hold her silver pom poms). After watching some ball, dancing a bit and playing in the fun folding seats, it was time for a treat....Rainbow Dip N' Dots..yum.. and to quote Miss B..."sooooo coooold".... Once she finished her treat we decided it was time to go home for a much needed bath (Libby was a bit sticky)....by the time she bathed had story time and prayer, she was one tired little girl..she went down without a peep.

I thought for sure she would sleep in a bit... but, I was wrong, she said she was excited and wanted to get up... it was 6:30am......we cuddled until 7 and then she kept pointing out to me that it was light outside.....so up we got.... We had the regular morning routine, Chitty watching and milk..then Miss B helped me make waffles for breakfast. After breakfast, there was more playing and a bit of Sponge Bob watching while we all got dressed for our fun Saturday in Cave Spring. We attempted to feed the ducks (although they were not very hungry neither were the fish)... She played at the play ground, we had a picnic, complete with boiled peanuts..yum! Then, Libby discovered that you could drink the fresh water out of the spring, and drink she did. Then, she decided that she wanted to get her feet wet in the "coooold" spring water..which she also did and proceeded to fall flat on her fanny....which she enjoyed greatly. At this point she was soaking wet so we just let her go for it..getting in an out of the water, climbing steps and sitting down, again and again. Finally, it was time to head home for a much needed bath and nap.

Since Libby was so wet, Diddy and decided to just get her out her wet things and wrap her in the towels that are always in my car (thankfully)..she thought that was very funny (naked baby). Diddy gave her a fast bath and after a quick book she was out like a light. After her nap (regular routine) then a yummy dinner and since the sun had finally come out, Libby thought it would be fun to go to the pool...so, off we went (bonus, no need for sunscreen at 7PM)..the water was warmer than we expected and we had a great time....not a lot of real swimming but loads of fun and splashing and spinning. Then home for another bath, Libby said, "a weally warm one"...then book, prayers and out like a light again.

Sunday morning, again, no sleeping in....Chitty, Chitty and milk, little people playing.. waffles for breakfast....more playing.....dressing, then off to church. Miss B was very good in church. She wanted to know when they bells were going to ring (they ring during the sacraments), then when they rang, she said "I like those bells, Mimi." She was a bit tired so was very quiet and cuddly during the service. After church she headed straight for the water cooler, she told us, "I want to get water by my own." We also went down to the social hall for cookies and punch...homemade chocolate chip. After church we offered several options for lunch but, you guessed it, Miss B chose her fav, Pick O'Deli, which was packed and had a line. Upon seeing the line Libby said, "I just want to get my food" (so cute), so we explained that everyone was waiting to get their food and that we had to wait....of course, okra is worth the wait. After lunch, it was home to change clothes and play a bit more, puzzles and phone calls to the great-grandparents (Sunday was Mema & Boobus's 59th anniversary). Miss B is getting much better on the phone and all of the great-grands enjoyed their call.
Once again it was nap time....a book and a little cuddling and she was out.

After her nap, Chitty and milk, it was time to pack up and take her to the second leg of her visit, Camp Cedartown with Gigi and Papa. It was a smooth transition with lots of sweet good-bye hugs from our sweet doll. We had so much fun and missed her the minute we drove off. We are back to our boring routine today..still humming Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang, the Old Bamboo and Hush-a Bye Mountain and thinking of cute things our girl did during her visit.

And Gigi had this to say about Camp Cedartown:

Libby got here yesterday and enjoyed seeing the chipmunk that Papa had caught. She loved watching it in the cage and also loved seeing Commish go berserk trying to get at it!  We had chicken Chinese for dinner last night with lots of veggies which she loved. Papa gave her a few jelly beans for a treat, once she had turned down fresh cherries that he teased her about. He asked if she would eat them when she was four and she very adamantly said no!

We talked about what we'd do while she was here and I reminded her about the water park up town, Peek's park, and the club pool. I told her that if the weather was nice we'd do the fountains at the park today, the pool tomorrow but that it looked like rain was in the forecast. She woke early and wanted to snuggle. While doing so, the heavy rain started and continued for a few hours. She decided that she wanted to do a pajama day since we couldn't go anywhere anyway. So we did! I had a new coloring book that she played with, a Pre-K to K workbook that I had gotten, plus her imagination. She loved both new things and enjoyed the workbook for about 20 - 25 min. About as long as I thought she would. She really is so, so smart!

She and I also made pre-mixed Oatmeal Scotch cookies that have butterscotch chips in them. She loved helping with that and had 1 after lunch. She loved it and said we're all going to have one after dinner tonight!
About 11:30, the sky started to turn blue and it looked like the weather was gone for a while. We got dressed and went to the park to "just goin' to play in the park, not the fountains." Of course, once there she just wanted to touch the water on the way in. She said it was a little cold and I didn't think she'd get in it. After playing in the park area, she said it was time to go home. Walking past the fountains, "GiGi, can I touch the water again?"  progressed to "Can I put my foot in?" and then to "Can I go in?" Good thing I had brought towels! She loved it as much as she did last year.

Came home, ate the rest of the fried okra and beans that Mimi had brought for her as leftovers, ate some chicken Chinese, and then the cookie. Even though she said, with her little arm extended and her palm up, "But I not tired, Gigi! I feel good," she went to nap about 2:15 and is sound asleep.
More fun in store when she wakes.

...
Sorry we missed your call. We had been at the pool and Papa got a few minutes to spend with us there. I told Libby we'd leave right after Papa left but, of course, just a few more minutes, GiGi.............
Got home about 1:05, a quick rinse in the shower, a quick lunch, and asleep by 2:00 or so. She's planning on helping me make fried green tomatoes for dinner tonight. I had had my menus planned and forgot about this requirement (ha!) until after she got here and reminded me. Working it into our burger/hot dog menu tonight.
Also heard that Daddy likes boiled peanuts! Did not know that. And that Diddy likes cashews but not Mimi (nor does Papa). She now likes cashews, too. One of my favorite nuts.

So you can see that Libby had a great time at both spots. I think she barely noticed that we were gone. We sure missed her, though! Okay, okay, she did act excited to see us when we got her yesterday and was super loving last night, today and tonight. SUPER. I think she may need a bit of deprogramming, though. She told me "I don't wanna do that." to just about everything I asked her to do today. Good grief. Of course, it didn't take much prodding for her to make the right decision - and there was plenty of fun and playing too. I missed my girl!
