So yeah, I'm increasingly uncomfortable and increasingly tired. By evening time, it's just about all I can do to get those final tasks accomplished and sit down for a few minutes to unwind before bed. And by the time I do sit down, nothing about the computer or the blog is enticing.
Libby is sweeter all the time about the baby and even saying "he or she" or "his or her" a few times now. Good news if this one turns out to be a bouncing boy!
Here's a cute photo of the big sister-to-be, in front of the new bench cushions!
Some highlights from last week include Ty surprising us on Wednesday at gymnastics class! He was in a different actual class, but we all got the stay to play afterward! They did some stuff together and some apart and then Oma, Libby, Ty and I went to lunch at Libby's favorite: Paradise Grill for some fried okra. It was a great, fun surprise for both Libby and me. Below, they are playing "smoosh the other in the tube."
My doctor's appointment went well for the 36 week check. "Oh wow, the head is way down there. You must be feeling a lot of pressure!," was the comment from the midwife. You know it! This weekend it feels even lower and yes, there's a lot of pressure and such. I'm trying my best not to waddle.
I thought it might be fun to compare my blog posts from the last days "pre-Libby." This one, from Jan. 5, 2010, (just three days before she arrived) pretty well sums it up. Except that I think I'm already hit this point on this pregnancy and I have probably three WEEKS, rather than three days to go...
and my back hurts. At least I haven't had to see a chiropractor this time.
The hormones are really starting to kick in, and my tears are a real concern to sweet Libby, who always comes to pet me, give me kisses and hugs, bring me "lovies," etc. Oh she is such a sweet caretaker. I just hate causing her concern when there's no good reason or explanation satisfactory to a three year-old. Like bursting into tears over some cake crumbs I was "saving" to eat later were accidentally tossed into the trash... while there are more than enough actual slices of real cake to eat just sitting in the refrigerator. All I can say is that it excites me to see her this way because I can't wait to watch her become the incredible big sister I know that she will be for this baby.
Also last week, we got to celebrate Diddy's birthday! Libby spent Thursday night at Mimi and Diddy's house for a variety of reasons, so I know that was a treat for him, my mom AND my grandparents. It also allowed Michael and me an evening in hip Decatur - where we never have time to go anymore - to celebrate a friend's engagement AND hear some live music. Boy did I hit the sack when we got back home at the SUPER LATE hour of... 10:15 p.m. Ha. Friday night my parents spent the night so that we could celebrate Diddy's actual birthday and they could get an early start (along with us) to Athens the next morning. We ate dinner at... Paradise Grill!... and came home for cake that Libby helped make, and ice cream.
On Saturday, while my parents went to Athens for the UGA game... we went there for "Insectival!" at the State Botanical Garden. Libby has been asking to go since she and I attended two years ago, so this time, Michael got in on the fun. We looked at, touched, watched and ATE! all kinds of bugs. Yes, Michael and Libby each ate a chocolate chip cookie with a fly in it. Libby first said she liked eating the antenna best, but then changed her mind to the body. Good grief! Since Michael was there to fill the role of "adventurous parent," I passed on the fly cookie this time. It was great, too, to see Megan and little William Sperr and Amanda and James. James even gave us a VIP lift back to our car at the end via golf cart, so that was an extra treat! Libby made crafts, instructed Michael and me to make crafts, learned more about a butterfly's life cycle, held and touched butterflies, caterpillars (HUGE ones), larvae, Madagascar cockroaches and even taunted termites!
We ended the day with lunch at Inoko (one of my faves) and I grabbed a beverage from Jittery Joe's on the way out of town. We had a full and fun day and Libby slept the entire way home. I even slept for a few minutes... and I was in bed at 7:30 p.m., not to get out (other than bathroom trips, of course) until 8:15 a.m. on Sunday for breakfast prepared by my loves before church. Yesterday after church was a bunch of basic "to do" list stuff, the Emmy's, Falcons and bed. But bed wasn't quite early enough, so I'm off for some more sleep shortly!
We had our handyman over today to handle a list of handyman to do list type stuff - except he couldn't fix our dishwasher later and now... it's looking like we probably just need to get a new one. But Gigi and Libby cleaned up from one of the projects and Gigi washed the entire, full load for me, too.
I think I'm officially whooped, though.
