Frozen: On Ice

Sunday after the pumpkin patch visit, Michael and I got to take Libby to her first ice show! When we asked her one night the week before what special event we might be taking her to on Sunday, she replied, "Frozen: On Ice?!"

We both looks at each other both stupefied and relieved. What if that wasn't what we were taking her to see/do?! Fortunately, we got to respond in the affirmative. Phew.

She put on special Minnie Mouse socks for the occasion.

Mimi came to sit Matthew (who had a great time with her doing things such as play on the trampoline) and we went for an early fancy dinner out.

We stopped at Ted's Montana Grill, where Libby ordered a (beef) burger and fries, along with a lemonade. All of our dinners were tasty. Daddy even gave us valet service, dropping us at the door so that he could park, and picking us back up at the front, too.

That said, her favorite part was visiting the fountains around the restaurant.

We walked from a decent big away from the arena, but Libby never let the distance get to her, on the way there or back, except for a quick, "Can you carry me?" to Daddy for a few steps at the end on the way there.

We walked by tons of concessions and sales of "Frozen" stuff - and she never asked for a thing. What a good gal. We found our seats and she started asking how soon the show would begin and she'd get to see Anna and Elsa.

When will it start?!

Well, some other folks came out first to promote one of the sponsors, but they got everyone up and dancing - even Libby. But the most important question, "When will I see Anna and Elsa?" was still on her mind. But Disney had an awesome surprise or two before that... first Mickey and Minnie came out to skate, and they brought many friends! Goofy and Donald joined them next, with Goofy falling down multiple times, much to Libby's delight.

The fun included Cinderella & her prince, Snow White & her prince, Ariel & Eric, Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder, Woody & Buzz, Timon & Pumba, and Nemo, Marlin & Dory. That floor was packed!

Then, it was time for the main feature, and boy were the skaters just great. Even Sven the reindeer was on skates! Backflips were accomplished by Kristoff and thank goodness, they used the real soundtrack. The special effects were pretty magical, too. I didn't bring my camera, so these are from the camera phone.

Olaf was super!

"In Summer" - boy were the costumes for this sequence just awesome! Disney - you ARE magic.

The trolls ("Fixer-Upper" number below) were so cute, too. You can't really tell here, but they are stacked with two trolls on top of each other, so double the number below were represented.

Anna and Elsa also welcomed their Disney friends back to the stage at the very end for a final number!

What a great show! Libby loved it and had a great time, singing all along the way. And shortly after we left, she informed us that she'd like Matthew's first show to be "Clifford Live" (just like her first show.) As always, she was sorry that he missed out on some fun. But Libby, like us, looks forward to when he starts joining us for these special events out!

And I would be remiss if I did not mention that Commissioner's 9th birthday was also that Sunday. We gave her burger and treats on Saturday night and on Sunday she got some special treats, too. And of course, she enjoyed a bit of rest.
