Punkin' Patch

Libby and I did our decorations for Halloween this week and I changed out the plants at the mailbox and added some new ones to the back patio. We're getting in the fall spirit, even if the temperatures haven't stayed very low just yet.

Today was just about our only shot to get to a pumpkin patch this year, so this morning after breakfast, off we went.

It was overcast, and as we left it began raining pretty hard here. Also, my camera battery is pretty weak these days, which means lots of time to "process" between shots and a slow shutter speed (which equals blurry photos, especially when you have busy kids!) and I forgot to bring home my work camera for some quality shots. So, we crossed our fingers and did our best to make the best of it.

Actually, the weather was great. It wasn't raining there, just a few minutes down the road, and the sky was overcast. So it wasn't hot, nor was it freezing like last year, nor was it bright to cause squinting. It was have been SO perfect with another camera. You'll be able to tell from some of the photos that the kids did not appreciate the extra time needed for camera action (or lack thereof.)

But we made the best of it and plugged on! It was Matthew's first time in a wagon and Libby picked out just the right one for us.

Libby also found a maze/labyrinth to do while we were there!

Yep, we went to our usual trusty Methodist church pumpkin sale, but they do a really great job with it. Next year, we do plan to get back to the slightly larger one a bit north of us that Libby loved year before last. We all had a great time at that one, but with Matthew's schedule it was just too much this year.

He was even rather ready for his nap a bit while we were there. Plus, he doesn't love the real pants that aren't super-soft, pj-like ones. I mean really though, who does like regular pants more than comfy sweats, pj's, or yoga pants? Come winter time, I can't get in them fast enough after having to wear other "real" pants.

But he did look awful cute in his jeans!

And last night, we ate at our usual Mexican. It was great to have Daddy home for dinner on Thursday and then out last night. We were mostly on our own without Daddy this week, but we had a good time, and all stayed relatively healthy. The next video is of Matthew not letting his Daddy stop tickling him at dinner last night.

He is a special little dude!

I actually accomplished more during the days than I thought I would. So that was a nice bonus. I'm currently moving into Matthew party planning mode/Halloween stuff mode. They will quickly be followed by Christmas gift-buying mode and Libby birthday party planning.

And our first-born turns nine tomorrow! We grilled burgers to celebrate tonight since we will be out with Libby for a special time tomorrow evening, and she sure enjoyed her share!
