But moving backwards again, I'm so glad that we're finally getting to 2015 in the blog! I'm just, oh, a month and a half late to the party...
When Michael got home from Ohio, he opened the gifts he missed from second Christmas!
But first, I was home a couple of the days between Christmas and New Year's and it wasn't terribly cold the whole time, so we got to try out some of the kids' new outdoor toys.
The bubble machine! Which is like a bubble blizzard!
And then there was a...nother rainy day! So we got to try out the kids' new boots and Matthew's new rain coat, too!
You can see how much he loved them. Okay, okay, so when we got back inside, I discovered there was something stuffed down in his boot that he was having to walk on... and I just thought it was because the boots have a bit of a heel and he wasn't used to it.
He perked up outside though once Libby started showing him worms she picked up. But he had the most fun when he just sat right in the mud and played in the puddle with his hands.
And then it got cold. Libby finally put on her new boots and heavy coat. (She's worn them... a lot since then.)
So, for New Year's this year, we did the traditional get-together with the Pearsons. We had heavy hors d'ouvres for dinner and spent the night at their house. I think it's fair to say a fun time was had by all! There were fireworks and sparklers in the driveway (getting the sparklers to actually light was an exciting challenge in itself).
Libby and Ty stayed up late watching "Planes: Fire and Rescue" on Lindsi &Tyler's bed and they were so funny about it. They kept "sneaking" out to see what we were up to in the den. And Commissioner made several trips back and forth to the bedroom. Any time she could, she would escape!
We took photos of all the kids together on the sofa, but Libby and Matthew weren't really cooperating, so they weren't great. I would still post one if I could find them though! But alas, no luck. Unfortunately, we really didn't get many photos this year. But we did have some delicious beverages.
And while the kids watched their movie and after they went to bed, the adults played a bunch of fun games -- individual, married teams and girls v. guys teams. And despite the Gordon family all spending the night in the same room, we all did indeed get some sleep.
Morning time brought yummy cinnamon rolls and eggs that were WAY too salty (great job, Marie), more playtime and then home for Matthew's late morning nap. I think we all still may have wanted one...
2014 was a special year - and we couldn't wait to see what 2015 brought us.
