Before school was even out, Libby started back on swim team!
We had a couple weeks of practice, and after an hour-plus rain delay and skipped warm-up on Wednesday night, we got that first meet in!
She was probably most excited for me to write her events on her arm and color her back.
Libby was assigned to event #11, the 5-6 year-old girls' 25 yard freestyle. She was the fourth heat, and the only swimmer.
When her event was over, she asked, "So, did I beat everyone else?!" Yes, yes you did sweetie.
I got to be "early timer" again- my specialty last year, which means I volunteer until around event #45, timing a lane. I was on the shallow end this time, so only had to time a few races. They do come quick, though! And of course, we have had NO pop-up showers until just in time to postpone the meet last night.
Libby and I kept ourselves busy playing and eating pizza. Michael then came down with Matthew, since we'd planned dinner there anyway. They got there just in time for the meet to get underway, so they were also able to cheer Libby on as planned!
Also when her event was over, she was ready to get one more treat -- and go! It was late! So the rest of the family headed home. I got home in time to get in one last "good night," though.
And the next day was the team celebration, featuring the ribbon ceremony and donuts!
Guess what Libby scored? Her first blue ribbon!
Great season ahead!
