Millie is soon to be off to college, and Savannah, too.
These sweet girls have a bright future ahead! Both graduated
with honors in school, but we are especially honored to be a small part of
their lives. They are loving, kind, fun, smart, hardworking, and generally good
and good-to-know people. They have bright futures ahead!
Savannah’s graduation included a party that my mom and dad were
able to attend on our behalf, and they attended her graduation ceremony, too.
We were sorry to miss it! It was done in the usual great style of Stephanie
though, and when we recently visited Greenville for a couple of days, we got to
see some of the decorations that were still up and hear all about it. And I
have to say, when I saw Stephanie after all of the celebrating was finished, it
really hit me: Savannah’s going off to school. I can only imagine how that
must, and will, affect Stephanie, not to mention Ryleigh and Trent. Steph said
that she’s pretending that it’s a long summer camp program. They’ll see her at
fall break, then again at Thanksgiving, Christmas and between times, too. But
wow.
Millie’s graduation day began with a pretty early morning to
get to her school’s stadium, get good seats, get settled and the like.
Millie has played in multiple bands at her school, and chose
to play at graduation. So it was fun to hear her again and pick her out with
the group playing, “Pomp and Circumstance” before she took her place among her
classmates robed in red cap and gown – and for her, also donning her UGA “Class
of 2020” sunglasses (they sent those to her from UGA after her accepted – they
did not do such things when I was accepted, not that I hold a grudge.)
Our kiddos had plenty of snacks, but that didn’t keep
Matthew quite occupied enough. Thankfully, Michael saved with day with train
videos on his phone, and we never had to actually get up and leave. The student
speakers were great, and for their principal, this was this first class that
he’d been there for all four years of their school. He took a panoramic photo
of the class from he spot at the podium!
And Millie received her diploma!
We scooted before the cap toss in front of the school
because we wouldn’t be able to see anyway. When we got back to the Kraft’s
house, there was already a storage/moving truck…?! (Even red and black!)
And a cute sign for the grad!
And while we waited on the family, there was cavorting in
the yard.
And then Millie arrived!
Millie’s graduation party lunch was extravagant and
delicious! And the cake was just precious – and also delish.
Millie has already been accepted into the Redcoat Marching
Band at UGA, as well as earned a scholarship for her section, and a scholarship
from her church, too.
We had a dance party about it, because "It's Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah!)".
I’m also going to help her with her UGA move-in on August 6.
She has already met her roommate several times, and after a false alarm, we know
that they will not only get to live together, but live together in O-House! I’m
more than a little jealous about that stroke of good luck, but Millie, like
Savannah, makes the best of any situation, so they would be fine no matter
where they wound up.
I can’t wait to see where school and life take these fine,
young women!
