Fall Break

During the fall break, I worked a lot. It was work for work, but also work at home, on our kitchen table, which was badly in need of refinishing. I had refinished it a couple of years ago, but I didn't strip it properly first. This time, I dotted all my "i's" and crossed all my "t's."

This comes no where hear how messy it was. I stripped this table seven times before I think I got all the goop out and off!

That was followed up with a new stain I eyeballed for color, and then refinished with, I believe five coats.

It's holding up MUCH better this time! And much of the patina and various dents and dings in the wood from the age of it, and the kids, has been preserved! Before it was finished, we ate like this.

The kids had a wonderful time playing at various pools, parks and with grandparents and great-grandparents. They ate at favorite spots, ate favorite foots and had a wonderful time!

Michael and I had a date night, too. We went to dinner out and to a movie. On Friday, we scooted out to Athens as quickly as we could. We met up with Amanda Tedrow, Ben fixed us drinks at the bar, and Millie came out to meet us after her band practice, too. It was great to have a hotel in town for the weekend.

Saturday morning began early getting ready for our UGA campaign tailgate! It was a little crazy, but it all got done. Michael saved the day at a point, and once again as usual, was a wonderful partner for me at a working event.

We eventually made it to the UGA game, and guess what?! For the first time at a game together, he REALLY cheered for UGA (against Tennessee). Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to pull out the win. It was a ROLLER COASTER of a game, and literally didn't finish up until the last split-second. We still had a good time, though.

After the game, we got to eat some classic Athens food from Taco Stand (after a long wait). But, we had a great wait because we got to hang out with Bryan and Alicia as a nice surprise! On Sunday morning, we even got to get bagels from my favorite spot, with Drew and Ben. What a nice visit!

Michael went to get the kids after that- and thank goodness, because we MISSED THEM!
