Say What?!

Libby talks a lot these days. In previous posts I have mentioned a few of her amusing phrases and words...

And now you get more!

"I'm doh-nin' in 'dehre." Translates to: "I'm going in there."

When discussing her favorite Meerkat family, the Whiskers clan, her big heart goes out to "poor 'hakespeee-uh," because "the 'nake bit 'im. Eoooww!" ("Poor Shakespeare, the snake bit him. Ooh." (And then she shivers about it.)

She also has a great fear of the toilet overflowing after a bizarre incident that occurred at Mimi's house for no apparent reason. So, while sitting on the potty, we have to discuss how this time, she hopes that, "the watuh doh down, not up."

Have I mentioned how many things Commissioner would be able to do if only that dog had hands?! We must talk about who would or does handle any task around the house and always Commissioner is included. But she can rarely be all that helpful since Commish can't clean up the spill because, "no hands." She's right, of course. But it's just rather a hoot. At least it is to us.

Libby also received a special gift at the end of our beach trip from Gigi and Papa: a stuffed dachshund that looks just like Commissioner at a glance. Libby immediately realized the great potential for this new dog and put her down on the ground with Commissioner. Commissioner got all riled up barking at her and then Libby started chasing poor Mishy with the new dog! Now that dog ends up all of the place- on the arm of the sofa, the middle of the floor/table, etc. and I'm finally getting used to knowing instinctively that it's not the REAL dog. I nearly killed myself avoiding running into her several times before the realization started to kick in. Gah. But now this dog has a name, too. After giving her several generic dog name ideas, Libby has settled on "Noopy!" So now, in addition to praying for Commissioner and the meerkat family at night, she also prays for Snoopy, and "'Noopy on duh tv." Help me.

Did I mention that a few weeks ago, she got to meet the governor for the second time, during her Grandiddy's swearing-in? So, in her 2.5 years, she's met two U.S. senators, the governor and been to the state capitol three times. She walked right up to him and stuck out her hand like a little politician herself. (Have I ever mentioned how much she loves the "Passing the Peace" portion of church. It's like she's welcoming everyone there to a fabulous party she's thrown. What a spirit for the Lord! ha.

Checking out the dome.
Meanwhile, her "please" and "thank you" stubborn streak continues. She'd rather give something up or do it herself than say one of those words. (Apparently, I went through a phase where I gave back birthday presents rather than say, "thank you." Hmm.)

We're still talking about school a lot and I've ordered some supplies, including her backpack. She insisted that it had to be green. My normal book bag sources failed me in the color category, so we had to some some looking online and at local kid stores. She found one with farm animals on it that was mainly green that she said she liked, but I knew it wasn't really "the one." Not just yet. So we looked at a lot of them online and when I found one with dogs on it, I knew that our search was over. After checking with her multiple times, it really was and said bag has been ordered. You have to wait to see a photo until it arrives, though!

Libby also had her first trip to Dunkin' Donuts on Saturday. I ordered her three munchkins: original cake, blueberry and chocolate. Can you guess which was her favorite?! (But she admitted to liking them all quite a bit!)

And she had a great time in the garden department of Lowe's, too!

In more news, Michael and I are celebrating seven years of wedded bliss today. This weekend, we went out with Mandy and Nick, who were celebrating their own sixth anniversary yesterday! Michael and I went to see "The Dark Knight Rises" and our high expectations were NOT disappointed. After that (with a thousand thoughts still on our minds), we went to Atlanta Fish Market with the Arnolds. Michael and I had never been before and we we enjoyed our great meal and even better company (and free dessert, too)! For a group photo, click here.

Libby got to party with the Krafts at our house and they brought her two new movies that she loves, "The Jungle Book" and "Fun and Fancy Free." Apparently she was a tad nervous about us being away (even though we'd talked a lot about how we wouldn't be there until after she went to bed for the night). I guess we might need to get used to more baby sitters that aren't grandmothers... but we've been so lucky to have them and they want to spend as much time with her as possible, too!

Those first few days of school could be interesting... but we're talking a lot about what to expect there, too!

We had a great family day on Sunday with "Summerfest" - a hymn sign and indoor picnic at church where Libby had a ball, played with one and Michael showed off his special singing skills as karaoke during the picnic... which had a more secular tone. We made delicious steaks last night with potatoes romanoff and roasted asparagus - and Michael and Libby's favorite dessert: chocolate mousse!

Tonight, we went out for pizza with B and again enjoyed mousse. She does love it! And I don't know if you realize, but I am kind of a big deal: I won, for the seventh (7th) consecutive year, the "Most Outstanding Wife of the Year" award. Beat that.

Talk to you again soon! Big week ahead.
