And I realized that I forgot to post this photo of Libby's gift for our anniversary! The very best we received.
Last week was busy and fun and then on Friday, we had Olympic Opening Ceremonies (which I loved, by the way)! I thought they were beautiful and quirky and perfectly British. Of course I particularly loved the homage to British children's literature (I was just sorry there was no Beatrix Potter - or if there was, I missed it.) My complaints were so very minor that I won't even mention them. And since then I've been watching a lot of Olympics while doing other stuff or trying to squeeze in some reading time for our book club selection, "American Wife." I loved the author's first book, "Prep," and I'm enjoying this one a great deal, as well.
I'm thrilled with several Olympic performances - such as Lochte's big Individual Medley gold medal race and Missy Franklin's 100 backstroke race. I'm also excited with Alison Schmitt's gold on the 200 freestyle (my specialty (even if it was a love/hate relationship) in my swimming days!) And what about the awesome backstroke gold for Matt Grevers?! I get so caught up in the races. Now, once swimming gymnastics and diving are over... I'm not sure what I'll watch. But I'm sure I'll keep up with the excitement. Michael is getting his updates throughout the day, but I'm trying NOT to hear about the big events until I get to sit down and watch them at night. We've been joking about which events Libby will compete in at the Olympics.
Random sweet photo...
So, last Tuesday, my cousin, Sarah, came over to play with Libby and me for the day and we just had a great time. I got a few photos, too!
On Friday, Libby loved on her doggy and shared her blankie!
And on Friday, she got her back pack for school in the mail!
| Doesn't she look too old running around in this one?! This was why I was in tears on Sunday night thinking about her starting school so soon... |
Here are a few of my favorites from class. (Going for different concepts in each - and frankly, they're better a bit larger.)
I did get a semi-quality photo tonight at home. Finally. Again, it would help if Libby would just HOLD STILL! I have some lovely photos of Commissioner because she seemed nearly comatose curled up on the sofa.
We also voted today and Libby hosted a playdate here at the house with friend Caroline Blackwell (and mom, Holly)!
Earlier tonight I made a dough for homemade whole wheat fig newtons. Tomorrow we get to make the filling and bake! We'll let you know how those turn out...
Okay- now back to the Olympics and bed!
