What a Weekend

Okay- FIRST - read the post below this one, because it's new - about "Firsts."

Libby had THREE parties to attend back-to-back on Saturday.

I had to work on Friday night and Saturday morning and Michael stayed at home on Friday with them - and Saturday morning. And Sunday got them to church without me because I had to work again. And was home all day on Monday while I was at work and was home with us today, too! We went to the aquarium this morning, too! (More on that later - Matthew's first trip!) They all went to the big park to play and have a picnic on Friday and to the playground in the neighborhood yesterday for picnicking and playing with Commish.

As for Saturday, Michael took Libby to an end of the year/post-ballet recital event at Leah and Sydney's house where there was a bouncy castle. She bounced her hair right into a mess. Michael and I swapped her and Matthew (so he could get some naps in) at a parking lot so I could get her to her Kira's birthday party.

Kira's party was supposed to be a pool party, weather permitting. Well I think we all assumed that meant that it would be inside if it rained. It turned out to be a bit overcast, but the real problem was that it was quite cool. In the 60s as a high! We still packed her bag "just in case" but I didn't bring mine and we kept expectations low. So, no pool, but the kids did have a nice time. Kira had lots of friends there, but only Libby and Jackson made it from school. In case the pool wasn't disappointment enough though, we had to get going as soon as Kira blew the candles out on her cake (without eating a piece!) to get to Ansley's party at a reasonable time (since we'd already be about an hour late there.)

She really did handle the disappointment pretty well, though. I promised cake at the next spot.

Well, she got to celebrate Ansley with cake, more pizza and juice boxes, AND a visit from "Frozen's" Elsa!

Elsa was mobbed upon arrival by a bunch of cute gals in their princess dresses (except for Libby, who again turned down the opportunity to borrow one to fit in with the other girls at the fete.)

You can see that she DID, however, bring and wear her tiara. Elsa first taught them a birthday dance for Ansley and they practiced proper curtsies.

Then, it was time for face painting! Given that opportunity, Libby again turned it down. She was concerned that she'd rub it and it would get in her eyes. Elsa offered to paint the top of her hand, but no, same concern. (She does rub her eyes when she's tired and there was no nap...) So, she watched the other girls get their faces painted and pointed out to Elsa her favorite parts as they came up while Frozen was on the television.

And they sang together...

But she did manage to get some photos with Elsa!

And then it was out to play parachute games and do magic tricks with Elsa using her special magic and magic dust!

And then Elsa made balloon animals!

Finally, she presented Ansley, the birthday girl, with her birthday cupcake and held it for her to blow out the candle.

I mean- what a party!

When we were talking to Libby about it later (together and separately) and compared notes, we learned that Libby thought maybe that she "wasn't so good." And why? Because Elsa didn't eat with them. Now, they ate BEFORE she arrived. And... of course, as you saw above...

Elsa danced with them, sang, curtsied, painted faces, played parachute games, performed magic tricks, made balloon animals, took pictures and gave the birthday girl her cake. She also explained that she had to get home for dinner, because Anna was at home making it for them.

But Libby's other concern/regret was that Anna was not there with her and she was a little disappointed about that.

Doesn't set her hopes a bit high, does she?

But she did say that she had a great time.

Sunday was another fun day with Daddy getting the kids ready for church, because I had to leave early for a work function. I met them back at church during the sermon while Libby was in children's church. We met in the hallway before going back in to the service together and as I held her, she leaned back, looked at me and said so lovingly, "Oh, you're just the sweetest Mama."

Well, same goes to you, girlie. Love you so much!

And on Monday it was Daddy fun day again and Tuesday held another special event...
