Last weekend, after crying pretty hard for several minutes after my parents took Libby from my loving arms to take her to Rome for the night and give Michael and me a much-needed date night, I recovered and quickly got to my "to do" list. I was exhausted from the Charleston trip, Miss B, allergies and I don't even know what, I got to take a nap! It was just enough to be able to get myself together and mentally prepared to laugh - A LOT.
I got Michael tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld's stand up routine at the Fox Theater for his 30th Birthday last month and we'd been looking forward to this event and dinner out. Because the show was at a weird time (7 p.m.), it messed up our original dinner plans to eat at Kevin Rathbun Steak. So I still owe him a dinner there (or another steak restaurant of his choice.) But we did wind up at one of my favorite spots, South City Kitchen, in Midtown. If I was a good blogger, I would have taken pictures of our delicious meals, but I'm not, so I'll just tell you that we ate and drank well following the show.
I'm still laughing at Jerry's routine. He performed for a solid hour and I felt like I didn't stop for a breath. The lady next to Michael was a different story. She didn't laugh One. Single. Time. for the entire show. Rather amusing in itself, in my opinion. He did a little bit on children's birthday parties, which we are just beginning to get our first tastes of (as adults) that we found funny. (He actually delivered it better than this clip, but you get the idea.)
We really had a super fun evening out and when we went to pick up Miss B on Sunday, Marmena treated us to a delicious dinner while we repeated the show for her and the man we now call "Granddiddy."
Apparently during their time together, Libby responded to him best when Marmena called him "Granddiddy." So, he's now Granddiddy Al Hodge. Not to be confused to P. Diddy (does he even go by that moniker any more? It's so hard to keep up with pop culture these days.) Also, does that make Marmena his Beyonce?! Hmm...
Well, the grandparents and Libby had a ball eating out and roaming around downtown Rome with a visit to the park and lots of fun on the deck at Marmena and Grandiddy's house. And, as always, she was their little comedian. She honestly is such a ham. Always looking for a reason to laugh or finding 101 ways to make YOU laugh.
Clowning around.
Bonk!
Looking at the moon (a favorite activity of her mother's at that age.)
Poke! And Peek-A-Boo!
Libby's signature squat - and showing Granddiddy how to properly place the rings.
Too cute!

What fun we had with Miss B...and we were/are more than happy to give mommy & daddy a break.....it is a win-win for everyone..
ReplyDeleteLove you all
Can we just call him "Diddy?" Or "A Diddy?" That's too funny!
ReplyDeleteYour neighbor at Seinfeld sounds about like the 70+ year old couple who sat next to us at The Hangover. Funny!
