My Favorite

I tell Libby all the time about how she's my favorite. Well, absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Of course I miss her when I'm at work. And dang is my list always long and full when she's in school now. (Those 3.5 hours truly fly by!) However, the fact that she has started school has been tough for me to digest emotionally. It's worse that I anticipated, but in a different way, too.

I miss her so much and Commissioner is excited, if I've been back home during her school day, when I grab my purse and tell her that, "I'm going to pick up our girl!" Commish seems to go into a bit of a depression when I'm home without her. I don't blame her. I feel the same way.

However, this is AGAIN my favorite age, too! I love how much she is already picking up at school. I ADORE that she always runs so excitedly to see me at the end of the school day when I pick her up. And my heart breaks a little bit, too. I'm so relieved that I've never had to do this until now. I have so much admiration and respect for other moms. Stay-at-home moms, part-time working moms and full-time working moms. I'm in awe of my "sisters in motherhood" and all of our different experiences. I find myself praying a lot these days.

But... back to Libby. Last night, she was so excited to get up this morning to watch, "Go Dog Go" (basically a video that's very minorly animated with the pictures from the book), and "go to school!" She was a little nervous as I dropped her at her classroom and that bottom lip popped out. But she was fine and she was proud to share that again today, "Ibby didn't cry." "Just two times." (As in, she cried the first two days of school, but that's all.) She asked to wear her hair in a ponytail today and it was adorable, and she wore her Nikes, too! I think it was a good thing, because they went on a nature walk to look for things in the color of the month, red! Apparently, they didn't find much today, but you know my girl loves any time spent in the great outdoors. She also got to do another craft project and her teachers told me about how much she helped Stella (apparently, Stella wasn't too excited by the project, so Libby stepped right in to lend a hand. HA!) The teachers didn't seem too bothered by it and said that Libby had been a good friend to help. So sweet.

She says such funny things and has (ever since she started talking), but she says them every day now. Even with this blog, I can't keep up with them all. The other day, I asked her if she had a good nap (after a three solid hour one!) and she said, "No. Not a bit." Too funny. Last night in the bath, she was playing with her bar of soap and it kept slipping from her fingers. Daddy related to me that she fussed at that soap, saying, "Come on soap, you're giving me trouble." Today, I heard her say about something she was frustrated with: "You're giving me a tough time."

I look forward to hearing what's next! She IS my favorite, after all.
