Just Some Random Stuff

So Libby fell the other night while walking Commissioner and holding her leash, forcing her to get small scrapes on two fingers right below her cuticles. She did bleed a little so she got band-aids for the first day or so (changed at least twice!) But they're still not completely healed and she has been babying them all week, trying to avoid washing them (not allowed!) and holding them up at mealtime or when she's just sitting down. Too cute and funny. Actually, when it first happened, Libby was kind of in a mood and she began crying and she's usually SO tough about any physical hurt that we didn't realize that she was truly hurt for a few seconds. I thought she was just frustrated with herself on top her her edgy mood. But we got her patched up and she enjoyed the cute bandaids for awhile. And on Monday, she got her flu shot - with NO TEARS! And she got stickers and a great hot pink band-aid to show for her efforts. Such a tough Miss B.

Today at school, I found out that I've been missing not only class e-mails, but also our class "share" page that the teachers set-up on Shutterfly! I can't believe I've been missing out on so much cuteness from Libby and her classmates. Thank goodness I started asking some questions today and I didn't go a whole month longer without this benefit. What a fun surprise for my afternoon.

Have I mentioned how much Fall makes me get into baking?! It's been a little out of hand ever since our apple-picking. I made tons of apple bread, muffins, etc. with all of those, then it was sweet potato muffins. Next came chocolate peanut butter pudding cookies, yesterday was pumpkin oatmeal cookies with cranberries and dark chocolate and Libby likes them, too - and today was pumpkin bread. I already have a long list of what's next! My eyes are MUCH larger than my stomach and longer than my day - ha.

In other exciting news, I picked up some new fresh lettuce for the container gardens today and I can't wait for some amazing salads again. I yanked a couple of peppery pieces of arugula already and the flavor is just astounding. It kinda makes me wonder how great it would be to have a backyard chicken! (Not exactly allowed here, though...) And I don't know that I'm there on the upkeep, but I understand the appeal!

In other "the things she says," Libby now likes to "read to myself" (holding the book, flipping pages). She further illustrated how this works tonight by telling Mimi, "I not talkin' to it, though." As in, I'm not   going to read it aloud the way we read it to her. Mimi had to work hard to keep from cracking up.

Libby's also putting great thought into her birthday party ideas. I do have to say that she thought, "101 Dalmatians" is "too many puppies runnin' around!" I QUICKLY informed her that only her puppy would be running around during that party at her house. And certainly not 101!

This weekend is already shaping up to be pretty full, but the highlight will be spending time with her Daddy! He's been gone since Tuesday and we've missed him. Thank goodness we finally got connected so they could interact on Skype. He's "had dinner" with us several nights this week. And the way they're using Skype on "The Big Bang Theory" and "Modern Family" is brilliant. And this week I cried at "Modern Family" with Haley going to college. But that they're keeping her involved via Skype. Ahh it gives me hope and excitement for how technology will be so beneficial (for her parents; annoying for her?) when she does ...go away to college. I've been dreading how we'll handle technology as parents during her "formative years," but now I have a happy thing to think about for the future, too! Yay technology.
