Well, Libby's enjoyment of the yard excitement continues. Yesterday she was asking, "Where are my guys?" Me: "What guys?" Her: "The landscapers." She's was so disappointed that she won't see them again until tomorrow.
But as we were returning from her first breakfast at Waffle House Saturday morning and a brief trip to Pike Nurseries, someone WAS in the yard! It was Comcast, finally burying the ugly orange line they replaced in JUNE. We've since switched to AT&T so I guess we were on the backburner. I finally called the other week to have them come bury it and they didn't come when scheduled. So I waited until I knew the yard digging would be done so it would be one less thing to mark and called back this week and there they were Saturday morning. Hey, at least it blends into the mess that is our yard right now anyway.
We also took the opportunity of a Saturday at home together with great weather to clean out and organize the garage and store room and trim our shrubs and that sort of thing. Yes, these are the sorts of things that excite me! I also did some spider-webbing for Halloween decor and Michael hung lights.
Between yesterday and today, practically the whole house has undergone a "Fall cleaning." I really can't believe how much was accomplished. There's always more to do, but isn't that really a blessing?
After dinner last night, Libby entertained us with this:
Ahh, simple enjoyment.
And it turns out my cousin Millie's band won their big competition on Saturday (that we missed): GRAND CHAMPION! We are so proud! She and her bandmates have been so dedicated, but since she's just a freshman - and loves her new activity - we know we'll have more opportunities in the coming years! It'll be so fun for Libby to see her perform, too.
We got to spend Friday evening hanging out with Ty Pearson and his parents, along with the Doyles! Fun change for a Friday, or as Libby described it, "A special treat." Another treat Saturday night: out for pizza; just us. There was a youngsters tennis team at the table near us so we started asking Libby if she was going to be on a tennis team one day, or a soccer team or be in the chess club - all got a "no" response. Then she added, "I'm gonna go to gymnastics on Monday. With Gigi!" So- she's right about that. Of course, "the future" for toddlers is really only days away.
Today, Libby and her Daddy visited Gigi and Papa and had quite the time together! They visited the golf course and the park, among lots of other excitement.
I had my first meeting with our neighborhood book club this afternoon too and it was really nice. It's just four of us so far, but there's plenty of interest and more members in our Facebook page online, so I hope a few more will join. I really liked the first pick and we're taking turns choosing books. I'm not next so I look forward to finding out the pick and I hope we choose quickly. I need a new book!
Tonight was just lovely with my sweet family. Libby, despite how tired she seems, keeps staying awake until late into the night in her bed and waking early (though she has to stay in bed until 7 a.m.). But tonight she was still in the mood to dance after dinner! What a treat. I just love when she gets dance-y and asks me to dance with her. She asked her daddy to join us, too. We had a great time dancing to old standards as performed by Michael Buble. My heart swells when she says things like, "Look-a Mommy!" and then does some fancy footwork herself. She even pulled out her stool so she could stand on one leg on it "and balance!"
Last Thursday, she gave me this look for her pre-school day photo, so I had to share.
And look how cute the decorations are outside of her classroom! They do lots of arts and crafts, so Libby's certainly happy in class.
She makes us so happy, too. We say the Lord's Prayer every Sunday night with her bedtime prayers and while she helps each day with our blessings at mealtimes and with her rather lengthy prayer each night, we've not really asked her to help us with this one. Tonight, we paused a bit to let her fill in the blanks and she, of course, really knows the whole thing. Some of the big words, like "trespasses," she needed a little help with as a reminder, but then she said it clear as day. It was really one of the most beautiful things I've heard, even if she doesn't fully understand what she's saying.
Small blessings remind us of the big ones.
