Drew Got Hitched

Well, it was back in June in New York City, but we finally got to official celebrate with Drew, Ben, their families and those fortunate enough to have them as friends this weekend in Athens.

Aunt Toni and Uncle John took care of the kiddos, and it seems everyone had a wonderful, and wonderfully exhausting time! Millie and Sarah got to play with the babes too, and Matthew enjoyed lots of delicious food!

He liked carrying around a little basket of Aunt Toni's tomatoes and ate the cherry sized ones as quickly as he could get them in his mouth.

Commissioner was loved and cared for by her second family, the Arnolds. AND we got to see most of them again today when they were good enough to drop her back off at home. I can't believe Ryan and Libby will be in Kindergarten in no time at all!

As Michael and I headed to Athens, of course the roads were sort of an obstacle course - because they always are on the way to Athens for some reason.

But we got there in time for lunch at The Grit.

It was delightfully yummy and filled with your typical Grit diners. I just love the consistency and many, many happy memories of friends and happy times in Athens.

We arrived rather early to the #drewandben reception, but were waved in, and so got a few minutes with the grooms before the many other guests arrived. What a memorable celebration it was. A beautifully written - and delivered - toast by Josh Darnell, a close friend of both Drew and Ben, who we've known since college. Had there been a formal ceremony, Josh would have been best man I think to both!

There was a table of great happy photos of Drew and Ben and their marriage in New York in June. And Melissa Darnell had taken many photos of the trip and ceremony, along with another of Ben's friends who lives in NYC and was in attendance in June. Melissa put together the photo album from the trip. I was jealous before, and it's safe to say that I remain so. But at least we had the great album.

After the toast, they had their first dance which was so cute - but they did not do the feeding each other the cake thing. But they did have four gorgeous and delicious cakes for their guests! I have to apologize because these photos were just from my camera phone.

And there were photos taken with the Queens! Yes, I forced my way into one. We missed Oma, though!

And many with the Dar crew. I'm so lucky that I married my favorite!

And a fun one with Lindsi!

I also made sure to get once with Drew... since one of my few grievances from our wedding is that I didn't get a photo with him. At all!

We ate dinner with the whole Rome gang at The National. I also ran out of the reception to see another Darlington friend from our class who happened to walk by (cause that's the kind of wierdo I am.) And we all got together again post-dinner at Highwire for more revelry. It really was fun to catch up with everyone, and really, a wedding is such a joyful way to do it.

This morning, we got breakfast with Emily & Ryan, along with Amanda Tedrow, at Big City Bread - another favorite - after two other great options were both closed since it's between move-out and move-in times at school, I guess.

So it was a great weekend of celebrating our anniversary with so many of the folks who shared our wedding day, too.
