30 Weeks!

Do you see that ticker at the top?  The "countdown to Baby G's 'expected' arrival?"  Yep- I'm at 30 weeks, which means 10 weeks, or 70 days to go...

Of course, Baby G could be late since this is my first.  But judging from the experiences my friends who are first-time mommies have had, I'd say the majority of the babies arrived early - whether naturally or through having labor induced due to other health issues.  Take one whose baby arrived at 36 weeks.  You know - 36 weeks would be just SIX weeks from now.  That's one grading period in public school.  Kind of brings it home, huh?  That would mean Baby G would arrive before Christmas - in early December, in fact.  So I'm getting my Christmas shopping done early!  And who knows what we'll do about "baby's first Christmas" if it turns out to be in 2009 instead of 2010.

Now, my health has been perfect thus far.  No high blood pressure.  Great results on any blood work and the glucose test.  I'm not even experiencing any swelling right now.  BUT now's the time that those sorts of issues tend to kick in.  So we'll see.

Our sweet pup Commissioner has been taking everything in stride so far.  She visits the baby's room, but just sits in there and looks around.  She hasn't made for any of baby's toys or clothes (of course, we're not leaving them on the floor- but still).  She could get to stuff on the lower levels of the changing table and some of the books, but she hasn't gone for them.  However, I had to take her to the vet today for her second illness in about two months.  She's had a few minor digestive issues and has been lethargic this week.  Perhaps it's because Michael's out of town?  We've got her on some antibiotics now and of course, she's been getting gourmet home-cooked plain chicken and rice this week, so hopefully she'll be bounding around soon.  One has to wonder though, if she's trying to get all the extra attention that she can now, so that she'll be all stocked up when Baby G makes his or her appearance.

  4. I too want to see the nursery! And I can't believe you're 30 weeks either! You could definitely have a baby before Christmas. I was shocked that we had one before Mother's Day (didn't get any Grandmother cards). You might have a nice little tax deduction!

I hope Commissioner feels better soon. Fish oil for dogs seems to help Nash's digestion. You might ask about it. It might be worth a shot.
