Easter

I know it's been a while since my last post- but I have another good excuse: a terrible sinus infection attacked me last week, rendering me practically lifeless for days. Thank goodness for antibiotics - but I couldn't take much for the symptoms themselves, so my family and I just got to suffer through it in the old-fashioned way: with me mostly lying around helpless, fading in and out of sleep. It was so bad that I, the girl who HATES to pass up a social event, particularly one she's HOSTING, had to cancel Libby's annual Easter egg hunt with her friends. It made me so sad, but I had no choice this year considering my state and the fact that likely no one wanted to catch my germs, either.

We did manage to dye eggs on Thursday night.

Libby spend the end of the week watching a LOT of television and movies. It was truly my only way to cope. Okay, okay, we did a bit of reading, too. Thank goodness she at least had school on Thursday so was able to have a bit of activity that would keep her body and brain slightly active. And fortunately, Michael's busy season finally came to a close. So he and Libby were still able to enjoy a lovely Saturday together while I took in "Sleepless in Seattle" and other fare that put me to sleep.

The other good news is that I rallied a bit by that evening and was able to get my bit of food prep done for Easter, which we were also hosting, on Sunday. Of course, Mimi and Gigi took care or a ton of the food list and Michael and the guys were great with clean-up. I even made it to church for Easter service! I was determined after having to miss Good Friday, one of my favorite services of the church year, because I was too ill to attend.

Either way, Easter was lovely. Look at Libby's beautiful dress! It was her cousin Sarah's dress, and it's so beautiful and delicately little girl with the pinafore and softness, that it just about makes me cry.

The Easter Bunny was very good to her, too. He visited her house and both grandparents' - they were kind enough to bring his goodies to our house - and he visited Michael and me there as well! We are WELL stocked with the candy for awhile.

He actually filled the plastic easter eggs for hunting with pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters! Apparently, Libby made something like 78 cents from the bunny because the bunny's helper forgot to tell the bunny where the little candies to go in the eggs were located before the helper went to bed.

I managed to prepare a french toast casserole to enjoy that morning, too.

We got lots of family photos before and after church!

Gigi also brought this beautiful- and delicious - bunny cake! The cake was so light and the frosting so rich! Wow. My coworkers received the benefit of this cake, as well, because there was just a bit too much for us to handle alone.

  1. First, that cake is so cute! So is Libby's dress!

And, I've got to give the bunny some props for thinking on his feet and filling the eggs with money. What a fun story for later too!
