Today, I got to take Libby ice skating for the first time! Finally! A variety of factors contributed to the problem, not the least of which was Libby's small shoe size. But we finally got there!
It's President's Day, so I was off (and I was really mostly, actually off), and Libby is off all week for Winter Break.
I have been looking forward to this day for years... probably since not long after she was born.
Matthew was so lucky to get to play with Aunt Toni while he also cheered us on (his words then and before we went in anticipation of fun.)
Libby took a lap or two to get her feet really under her, but she did extremely well! She hardly needed our hands by well before the end, but kept reaching for Millie and me to guide her so she could do various tricks, like jump red and blue lines, keep one foot up, run and skate fast.
After every lap, Libby would take a break, and as Millie and I skated off for a lap, later in the route, she'd yell, "No twirling!" That stinker didn't want us to practice any of our tricks without her. And I have to say, Millie and I did pretty well for people who rarely (at best) ice skate.
Matthew and Aunt Toni had fun eating snacks (Matthew), climbing up and down the bleachers, cheering us on, and "playing cars" video games, which Libby also enjoyed after our skate. Aunt Toni was also nice enough to get photos for us!
After skating it was time for lunch! Aunt Toni suggested Fuddrucker's, and boy was it tasty, too!
While we're here, I also have this cute video of Matthew last Friday, breaking up his tortilla chip, and taking one piece by one and then dipping it like a pro.
