So, Marmena spent Friday night with us so that we could see her on Saturday before we left for so many days on vacation (thank goodness.) And then she was off to Rome when we were off to Virginia.
Here's Marmena's account of her stay at "Camp Rome:"
Sad to say our sweet baby doll is gone....
I took her to the open and loving arms of Gigi & Papa.....and I (we) are ever so jealous...this sharing thing is not all it's cracked up to be...from our perspective. (I/we think Libby's too) her first extended stay away from home and mommy & daddy has gone very well....
she was a doll, eating, sleeping, playing and keeping us thoroughly entertained...
she is so funny and so brave...
our activities included, playing in the sprinkler, riding in the "big" wagon, blowing bubbles, playing at the pool, playing in the fountain downtown with the BIG kids....to the amazement and delight of all around, she charmed everyone..we also managed some block building, some stories and general giggling and silliness....(oh yes, and church)
Photos from their fun times:
And excerpts from GiGi:
Miss B arrived around 11:00. Toured the house, played with some toys, and was so tired that she slept for 2 hrs starting at 11:40. Woke up and played a little. I took her to office to see Papa and everyone else. She charmed them as usual. Went to Wal-Mart. She picked out a new toy, a sorta camera, that she really likes. We came home and she played in the Nemo sprinkler in the backyard. Loved it! Meant to get pictures but just wasn't quite prepared. Came in, dried off, changed clothes... and played in the house a while. She can now climb onto the sofa by herself, almost get off by herself, and can climb on/off the rocking horse that my office girl loaned us. She actually rocked on it and bounced up/down. Then we went out and she played with her other toy--the lawn mower that blows bubbles! Really liked that, too. Sorry, spoiling her just a bit.
Came back in and I put her down for a short nap, which she never took. So, by the time dinner was over and she had her bath, she was begging to go to bed. Drank her milk and went down at 7:40.
And more from GiGi:
Well, whoever told me that Peek's Park didn't have fountains was wrong. They did. And after Marmena had taken her to the ones in Rome, she just HAD to go in this one! And since I wasn't prepared with a bathing suit, we just took off her clothes.......... Nobody cared!

| Now one of my favorite photos EVER! |
Obviously she had a wonderful time at both places, while Commissioner suffered from a bit of depression, apparently. :-( Of course, while we received our e-mail updates, we may have also called a time or two! Actually, all of the humans involved handled everything quite well. Libby even seemed rather pleased to have us back (more reaction than I expected) and despite a busy day (with a long nap by Libby) on Thursday, we had a great day together with some extra Libby love! She even held my hand (me in the front seat, her in the back, facing the rear still), for over 10 minutes on the way home until she fell asleep. (I thought my arm might fall off, but it would have had to fall completely off and detach from my body before I would have let go.) And tonight, she needed to sit in my lap for a few minutes at dinner.
Now we're just all looking forward to our next big vacation, ALL together, in a few short weeks!
