I found out this morning (of course the night I get to bed early.) And I'm glad of it. And proud of our men and women in the military. I can't give my own opinion on this news too much more.
I will say that it made it an exciting and busy day at my office.
But- I thought I'd share what innocent Miss B was up to today. Her grandmothers generally e-mail me an update part-way through the day when I'm at work. Today I got two! Here they are for your enjoyment as told by GiGi.
"I know you're busy today, but just a quick note. Libby has been feeling better today. Went outside in the yard w/chalk, after eating a good breakfast including cantaloupe. Heard a machine across the street which made her laugh and she wanted to go see it. It was bobcat jackhammering a driveway and the sound made her laugh. Came back, took a bath (she insisted before she'd get dressed). Heard the bobcat again and immediately wanted to go see. Talked her into not going naked; got dressed, and we walked with the Commish across the street. She watched for a long time there and again from the front window in the library. Was sitting in my lap watching and got so quiet, I asked if she was ready for a nap. Rocked her for one minute and she practically was asleep in my arms then. I put her in her crib and immediately went back to sleep. That was at 11:20. Will let you know later how long, etc.
Second note:
"Slept for about an hour and a half. Heard the bobcat again and insisted we see it. We sat on the lawn and watched for probably 1/2 hour. Actually took the high chair out front so she could watch and eat lunch. Ate 2 veggies and a snack bar. The dump truck honked it's horn at her as they drove off because they knew she had been watching plus she was waving goodbye to them! Cried a little when I brought her inside to change her diaper. Wanted to continue watching! Then cried a little when I took her in the stroller instead of the wagon (my back was tired from carrying her up/down the driveway!). Took the stroller down to see again and when she realized the workers were on a break, decided the park would do. BTW, a man was pressure washing his deck near the park and she kept wanting to watch that, too. Were there about an hour's total time. Came back and the bobcat was active again. I brought a lawn chair into the front yard and she sat in my lap for another 1/2 hour watching them. She was disappointed when I brought her in to give her a snack of yogurt and fruit plus milk a little before 4:00. Went down for another nap about 15 min later; asleep at 4:30.
I had no clue that she would be so interested in mechanical things! So fun to see her concentrate on so many different things in her young life. Always amazes me."
Aren't we all so spoiled?! This was Libby's day and I got e-mail updates all about it. Side note: she was still interested in the work they were doing into the evening. She was also very intrigued when they were taking down some trees a couple of weeks ago.
She spent the weekend at GiGi and Papa's too! We went with the Watson's to dinner and to see a Queen cover band. Okay, THE Queen cover band, apparently. It took a bit of getting used to at first, but they were really excellent and played some deeper tracks for the true Queen fan, as well as the big hits. Most importantly, they played my favorite: "Fat-Bottomed Girls." My only complaint is that they didn't play longer and they didn't play "Bicycle" as a follow-up to "Fat-Bottomed Girls." But it was very fun!
This continued my truly royal weekend. I still can't believe that I hopped out of bed at 4:30 a.m. on Friday morning to view THE event of the year. But I did and it was great! I didn't take photos, as promised, but we enjoyed our British breakfast fare and I was both moved and amazed by the beauty of the wedding- from the readings and the homily to the pomp and circumstance of the event, to the crowd walking in orderly fashion to Buckingham Palace and the radio coverage I enjoyed even on my way to work thanks to the BBC station on Sirius radio. Then, Michael and I watched it AGAIN on Friday night! Nope- I couldn't get enough!
