Too Fun (and a trip to the zoo!)

Michael took the day off today to take Libby and me to Zoo Atlanta for our first time!  We got up when Libby awoke at 7:20 a.m. to get moving and get to the zoo shortly after opening time.  We knew the weather would be nice, but we didn't know just how perfectly gorgeous it would be!  It takes us a little while to get from our house there, so Libby took a brief snooze on the way and was ready to play by the time we got there.  Of course, we were ready to pop her in the stroller.

We wound up getting her out of it pretty early/quickly in order to see the elephant exhibit (although the first was the flamingoes.)  I whipped out the camera to start taking the beautiful photos I had planned (with a super-fast shutter speed).  And the camera card was broken.  It wouldn't come out of the "locked" position, even though it worked fine in our back yard on Tuesday.  You know- the day I had my back-up camera right inside.  I didn't bring it today.

Thank goodness Michael just got a new iphone for Father's Day (a bit early.)

Libby was most into the Bush Dogs.  Oh, and climbing on and off of the logs inside the goat petting area.  And her favorite part was eating a granola bar and walking around on a wooden deck at the end.

We really did have a nice time, though.  Our expectations were pretty much met (they weren't super hight.)  And she liked seeing other kids and babies.  It was not crowded though and the weather was just delightful, so we couldn't have asked for more!  Oh, and she liked the little nature trail we let her get out and walk on, called "My Back Yard" (or something to that effect.)

And the rest of the day was great, too.  We walked to the neighborhood playground after Libby's nap and playing.  She had another wonderful time there, holding sticks and playing near the other neighborhood kids!  Swim team insanity has begun here and it was pretty amusing to see "practice" in action for the first time.  Pool opens this weekend!

This evening, we had leftover BBQ from the crock-pot, fresh rosemary roasted potatoes and marinated grilled veggies.  YUM-O!!!  Except Libby is not a fan of this type of veggie yet.  She spit out a piece of eggplant and a piece of green pepper.  But she ate other veggies, so it was okay!  Then, she helped me water my hydrangeas, roses and herbs and it was a stinking hoot!  She was carrying around her little yellow bucket, filling it with water from the hose as I watered the plants and attempting to carry it around.  She dumped it on herself multiple times and had a blast.  I loved watching and playing with her!  She had a breakdown when I turned the water off, but fortunately she still needed a bath.  So we all got to move on quickly!
